“But how is it going to work? This isn’t realistic. I’m setting myself up to fail, but he asked me to trust him to figure it out.”

“Then trust him.”

I sigh. “I told him I would.”

“Quinn, get your mom out of your head.”

“How do you know she’s in my head?”

“Because I know you. Jamison isn’t your dad. You can take a bit of risk, you know. Everything doesn’t have to be safe.”

“So does that mean you had second thoughts and went for it with Chase?”

“Absolutely not.”

I tilt my head. “You two looked pretty cozy all week.”

“I’m not going to be one of his girls.”

“How many does he have?” I cry out.

She shrugs. “No idea, but Meredith is Ms. Thursday.”

I gape. “Chase has them assigned to days of the week?”

“Looks that way.”

“Did he ask you to be one?”

“No, but he would have tried to get in my pants if I’d let him.”

“But you seemed to like him.”

She looks away.

I put my hand on hers. “I’m sorry. You really like him, don’t you?”

“It doesn’t matter. I’m not going to be one of his girls.” Vivian looks at her watch. “We better go. They are boarding soon.”

We go to our gate and shortly board. The plane ride home is quiet. Vivian and I are both lost in thought. It’s early evening when I finally get to my apartment building.

I barely make it in the door when my buzzer rings.

“Delivery for Ms. Quinn Sinclair.”

On a Sunday? What did I order?

I go downstairs to the lobby. A courier is waiting for me. I sign for the package. It’s a box that’s not super heavy but isn’t just paperwork.

As soon as I get into my apartment, I open it and stare in shock.

A brand new Mac laptop with my name engraved on it and a pink cover is in the package.

Quinn,

You deserve nothing but the best. I miss you already. Thanks for making what should have been a shitty week, bright.
