My gut is flipping.

We get to the lobby where Vivian’s parents are talking to the doctors, and Noah, Xander, and Jamison are all in the conversation with them.

Jamison holds my gaze, and I close my eyes, trying to figure out how to warn him.

They are at the desk for a while. I sit between Charlotte and Piper and whisper, “You don’t know the entire story.”

“What’s there to know?” Piper sneers.

“I got the only important fact, didn’t you, Piper?” Charlotte replies and smiles at Xander as he winks at her from the desk.

“They are so dead,” Piper mutters.

“Yep,” Charlotte chirps.

“Seriously. You two aren’t helping me right now.”

Piper puts her arm around me. “Did you know he had a wife when he seduced you?”

“No, but...”

When he seduced me?

Before I can finish thinking, Charlotte leans in. “He’s legally married to Valeria Sánchez.TheValeria Sánchez? Box-office extraordinaire? Swimsuit cover model?ThatValeria Sánchez?

“Yes, her. But—”

“Time to go.” Piper unwraps her arm and jumps up. The guys are all walking toward us, oblivious as to what is about to happen.

“Hospital,” I whisper. “You promised.”

Charlotte stands up as well. “Time to leave?”

Xander nods and puts his arms around her waist. “Yep. Time to get you home so you can rest.”

“Hmm.” She crosses her arms.

Xander seems confused. “What does that mean?”

“Oh, nothing.”

Piper is giving Noah her death glare.

“Piper, what’s going on?”

She focuses her glare on Jamison. “We all need to go outside.”

“Outside?” Noah asks.

“Piper,” I mumble and put my hand on my face.

“Yep. Outside the hospital,” Charlotte agrees.

“Charlotte?” Xander asks.

“Out now. Everyone.” Charlotte points.

“Let’s at least use our manners and tell Vivian’s parents bye,” I say.
