"No way. I'll gain a ton of weight."
"No. You'll probably drop a couple of pounds of water weight."
"It's not possible."
He grunts. "I'll make you a bet."
I put my arms and head on the table. "You're impossible," I moan.
"I think you're scared, since you know I'm right."
"Fine. But when I gain ten pounds in a week, and can't fit into any of my clothes, I'm blaming you."
"You can stay in the house naked."
I elbow him. "Not funny."
"You won't gain. No more starving yourself." He kisses my forehead. "I'm going to make breakfast."
I'm going to kill him if I gain weight.
I rise and go into his bathroom. I take off the T-shirt and step on the scale. I'm the same as always.
At least I didn't gain weight from the last two nights.
I go back to the main room and pick out pieces for the four-bedroom unit. The smell of eggs and bacon hits my nose, and my stomach growls louder.
Dmitri sets a cup of coffee down and kisses my head. "Those look good together. I wouldn't have thought of pairing those."
"It's a bit edgier. Kind of risky," I reply, picking up the countertop slab and looking closer at it. "I'm still not sure if I even like it or not."
Dmitri kisses me on the lips. "Eat some breakfast. It'll clear up the fog in your head."
"You're annoying."And so freaking hot, I'm ready for my next round of exercise.
He checks out my body in his predatory way. "Don't be too annoyed. I think you might just fall in love with me." He winks and goes into the kitchen.
My heart hammers in my chest. That's definitely a possibility.

"Let's take a break."I rub my face. Anna's designed all the areas except the hallway and common bathrooms on the main level. I've been inputting her choices into the system and making sure everything aligns with our budgets. So far, she's saving us a lot of money. And her ideas are of high quality.
It's past four. Chase still hasn't sent me a text, and I need to speak with him. I don't want to do it over the phone.
I hand her my cell. "Call Vivian and see if Chase and her are home."
"Why?"
"Let's get out of here for a while."
"But I only have two things left."
"Yes. And against all the odds, you're going to meet the deadline."
"You're helping."
