"Everything?"

"Yes."

"Did she tell you what he did to her a year ago?"

"Yes. And no offense, but she doesn't want you or anyone to know, so please don't ask me the details."

Chase's face hardens. "I already know."

"How?"

"I own an ambulance company and know lots of staff members at all the hospitals in New York City. If you do enough digging, you can find out all sorts of things."

I rise. "If you know, then you shouldn't have a problem with me taking care of him." I hold my hand out for the address.

Chase rises, too. "That depends."

"On what?"

"What are you involved in?"

"I would never lay a finger on your sister."

"That's not what I asked."

Silence fills the air. The ticking of the clock on the wall seems to get louder.

Chase steps closer. "She doesn't need to go from one dangerous situation to another."

I'm serious about her. Lying to him is only going to make things worse.

"She's protected at all times. Right now, she's at lunch with Harper. My bodyguard is watching them. I've instructed her to only ride in my car, my brothers', or yours. She understands and agreed to this."

He clenches his jaw, and his face turns red with anger.

"It is what it is, Chase. And I will get her a new phone, so you don't have to call mine. But Anna is with me because she wants to be. If she ever decides she doesn't want me, it will be her choice to leave. And I would never do anything to force her to stay. But I don't have any plans of letting her go, so it's best if we work together."

His scowl only deepens. He shakes his head and hands me the paper. "Let me know when he's taken care of."

"Guess what?"Harper sings.

"What?"

She whips two envelopes out of her purse. "Surprise!"

"What are those?"

"Steven booked us makeovers!"

"Really? Why?"

"His property management firm just took over this salon. There was an issue with their plumbing. The old firm didn't take care of it. Steven promised her he would step in and get the issue fixed. The owner was so happy she gave him these, and he knew we were getting together today, so he booked us appointments!"

"Wow. Steven needs to get some extra love for this one," I tease Harper.
