"Do you drink coffee?" I ask.
"Yes."
"Great. I need some backup."
He raises his eyebrow.
"I'm assuming you can sit next to me and have a cup?"
"If that is what you wish."
"Oh, I do."
I'm not sure how my brother and Dmitri's conversation went, but I have a feeling my brother is going to give me an earful. And I'm done worrying about what he thinks.
This is my new life. I'm with Dmitri. It's time he gets used to it.
I go into the penthouse with Viktor. Chase and Vivian's eyes widen.
"This is Viktor, my bodyguard. This is my brother, Chase, and his wife, Vivian." I point to a chair next to my brother. "Have a seat, and I'll get you some coffee. Sugar? Cream?"
Victor shifts and says in his thick, Russian accent, "Black."
"Of course it is. Okay, coming right up," I chirp.
He sits next to Chase.
I bring two cups of coffee over to the table.
Vivian clears her throat. Her lips twitch. "You switched your hair. It looks amazing on you."
"Thanks."
Chase stares at me.
I sit down across from him. "You wanted to talk to me?"
"Is he meant to intimidate me?" He glances at Viktor. "No offense."
Victor keeps his scowl on his face and drinks his coffee.
"What are you doing, Anna?" Chase asks.
"Don't you mean, what am I doing with Dmitri?"
Chase's face hardens. "Can we talk privately?"
"This is private. You don't hide things from Vivian, do you?"
Chase glares at me.
"Anna," Vivian softly says.
I sigh.Time to get it over with. The fun is over.I turn to her. "Be nice to Viktor. He grows on you after a while."
She winks. "Got it."
Chase and I go into his office. The moment the door shuts, he says, "I don't think you understand what you're getting involved in."
