Also against my better judgment, I jump into his arms and kiss him as if I’m a starving woman.

My lips mold to his as does my body, and every inch of me lights up when he opens his mouth and lets me in. I light up even more when he drops his bag and wraps both arms around me, bringing me closer to him.

I don’t know how long we kiss for in the middle of the field, it could have been an hour for all I care, but when we pull apart, I want more. I want so much more of this man.

It's fake, you can’t have more.

It's at that thought that I’m detaching myself from him and letting my feet fall back to the ground.

“Hi.” I say, sounding way more breathless than I intended to sound.

Maddox gives my ponytail a small tug. “I wasn’t expecting you to be here.”

“I know, it was a last minute decision. One that has us driving back tonight.”

Maddox nods. “Either way, I’m glad you came.”

I can’t help but smile at him. “I’m happy I came too. That game was amazing,” I say wanting to kiss him one more time but I don’t. Instead I changed the subject. “I hope you don’t mind, but I posted a selfie of me and it had you in the background. If you want to repost it or something.”

He gives me another nod. “I will do that.”

After staring at each other for a good minute, we put some space between us and I introduce him to Selena.

My best friend tries her hardest not to freak out that she’s meeting one of her favorite players, but I can see right through her.

Once introductions are done, Maddox walks us out of the field and to the parking lot. Once we get to Selena’s car we talk for a good minute before we say goodbye.

A goodbye that includes another kiss. It might not have been like the one back on the field but it’s still one that makes me want more.

An hour into our drive back to Seaside, a notification pops up on my one.

No way in hell will I be sleeping tonight.

This morning, I was in Sacramento getting ready to head to the field for an early afternoon game. Now I’m back in my apartment back in San Francisco officially a part of the San Francisco Miners.
