“Girl that ain’t even right, now I'm gonna wonder about who you’re gonna be dirty dancing with this evening.”

“It’s far too early for all that touchy-feely stuff, but I'm not saying it won’t be on my mind.”

“You old tramp, gonna make him work for it huh?”

“Absolutely, momma don’t give the goods to just anyone, You headed out too?”

“Yeah, if you give me a second to turn this in, I’ll walk over with you. My car is over there too. I heard what happened to yours the other night. I hate that I wasn’t here. Did they do a lot of damage to your girl?”

“Ughh, yeah, you can say that! She is back to her former glory though, but I decided not to chance driving her for a few weeks. I'm not going to tempt fate again so soon.”

“Well, tomorrow I want full dibs on this mystery date of yours.”

“I won’t be here… I gave my shift away.”

“Oh, now it’s getting serious, but I'm happy for ya. It’s about time you got some action, that snatch of yours has to be full of cobwebs.”

I shove her playfully. “You are terrible.”

Even though we are laughing as we walk across the parking lot. I’m looking around, watching every vehicle around us. The last thing I need is for those assholes to follow me home. I say bye to Alecia and head to the grocery store. Hoping the place isn’t busy so I can run in and out and still have plenty of time to fix the stuff I want to take with us tonight. I don’t think I have ever looked forward to going out with someone, or maybe it’s just been a while… a long while.

By the time I got home, unloaded the groceries, and then packed what I was going to take with us, it was already close to six in the evening, and I hadn’t heard a word from Dage. I checked my hair again and then touched up my lip gloss.

I have reached for my phone a dozen times, but I refuse to ask him if he is coming.

My heart hits my throat when I hear a vehicle coming down the driveway. I glance out the bay window up front and squeal when I see his car creeping this way. I force the smile off my face, and then I make myself take a few deep breaths before I head towards the door. I walk out to the edge of the porch as I wait for him to get out of the car. When he opens the door and smiles up at me I have to ask.

“You lost, city boy?”

“Nope, for the first time in a while, I knew exactly where I was headed. I would have been here earlier, but this girl I have been seeing, she is different. So, it took me a second to figure out what to bring with me.”

“Wow, I'm sure she didn’t expect anything. That’s probably what makes her different from all the others.”

“I agree with that, but one thing I have learned is all females have a weakness. I think I may have figured this one’s out. She is always dancing and moving to music when she thinks no one is watching. So, I thought this cool little Bluetooth speaker was something she would enjoy because she can take it with her where she goes.”

“You are correct about that being a very cool present, but… do you buy random presents for all the girls you're trying to figure out?”

“Nope, just the ones I want to spend more time with.”

“Good answer.”

He walks up onto the porch and hands me the bag he has in his hand. I have to make myself look away from those piercing blue eyes of his. Damn, he is way too pretty for his own good, those dark worn-out jeans are hanging perfectly on his hips as his plain black t-shirt struggles to not rip apart on his biceps. That wicked smile on his face shows me that I have been caught checking him out.

“Have I dressed appropriately for stargazing?” He turns in a circle, holding his hands out. It takes everything I have not to spank that amazing ass of his as he turns.

“You’ll do,” I force out. “But I hope you brought a sweatshirt or a light jacket with you. It will get chilly quick.

“I thought maybe you could keep me warm.”

“That option is not off the table, but there may be parts where you will require your own warmth.”

“I brought a jacket with me. I wasn’t sure how early we would be leaving.”

“It gets dark about seven-thirty, I figured if you were up to it I could show you around the property some beforehand.”

“Yeah, sounds great.”

“Grab your jacket and meet me behind the house. I already have everything loaded up.”
