“Yeah, sounds great. And if you have a free moment, I would love to talk to you.”

“That’s the weakest pick-up line I have ever heard, stud. How are you managing all those girls with such a line…? Maybe you should try one like this, ‘Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by you again’… Or try this one, ‘You know, I'm terrible at flirting. How about you try to pick me up instead?’”

“Do those work?”

“Nahh, I don’t think so, but I have heard so many of them working here I’ve started memorizing them for future use. Give me a minute to put your order in and I’ll be right back.”

I can’t seem to get this huge smile off my face as I walk away. My heart is beating fast and I'm sweating under my arms. I haven’t felt like this in years.

I put the order in and grab his drink at the bar. I no more than set it down in front of him that I see Alecia sit one of my other tables. “I’ll be back in a little bit.”

“No worries, I'm not going anywhere, do your thing.”

I approach the table that was just seated, and I can tell in seconds these guys are nothing but trouble. I do my usual spiel and head off to get their drinks. When I return, they all seem to be in a deep discussion, so I simply set their drinks down and start to walk off to give them more time when one of them grabs my arm.

I jerk my arm away and with a forced smile, I say playfully. “Hands off, love… Now if you guys are ready to order. I will get that right in.”

They all order quickly, but the one who grabbed me gives me the creeps. I look down at my watch as I walk away, happy to see I only have a little over an hour before we close.

Dage apparently sees the frown on my face as I walk by. “You ok?”

“Yeah, just living the dream. Your food should be coming up. I’ll check after I put their order in.” As I walk off the first thing that hits my mind is, of course,I would have a full section when he wants to talk but talking doesn’t pay the bills.

The guys keep me so busy I can barely say two words to Dage, but that is just how it is sometimes. I get a little grief from them when I cut them off because we are getting ready to close, but I have had tables react worse.

I take Dage his bill, and just as he starts to tell me something one of the guys yells for me. “Hold on, let me deal with them.”

I had no more than walked up to the table when the one who grabbed my wrist before tried to slide his arm around my waist. “Hey, sweet thing… How about me and you tonight? Maybe we can find an alternative way to pay this bill huh?”

I push away from him, “Sorry honey, not interested. Do you guys need boxes or anything?

Before I can step farther away from him the guy jerks me down on his lap. I immediately start to struggle to get off him.

“Now honey, let ol’ Roy here show you a good time. A sweet ass like yours needs a man to keep her happy.”

I don’t know who is more shocked… the guys, or me when I hear,

“Let go of her, now…if you want to keep that hand.” Dage reaches down and pulls me up in front of him. “Now gentlemen, it’s time for you to go, pay your bill, and head out before this gets ugly.”

“City boy, I have to give it to ya. You’ve got a set. What do you think you're gonna do? Take on all four of us?”

“Well, redneck, you see right now I believe I'm a little more pissed than you are. I don’t like things…like you handling things that are mine. So, I may not be able to take on all four of you successfully, but you will all know I was there.”

One of the others speaks up, “Come on Roy, she is just a piece of tail, and none of them is worth this shit.”

They all throw some money on the table and Dage pushes me behind him when they all start getting up. Roy is the last to leave the table and when he does, he gets inches from Dage. “This isn’t over, city boy.”

Dage doesn’t say a word as the other guys walk off. When I see the door close and lock behind them, I almost melt to the floor. Shit, I have been hit on a dozen times and never actually got scared, but that guy was over the top.

“Thank you for coming to my rescue. That was getting out of hand quickly. But I think you may have made an enemy for life.”

“Guys like that piss me off. How much longer is your shift?”

“Now that we’re closed, maybe forty minutes or so. I have to get everything cleaned up.”

“I’ll be here to walk you to your car. I don’t trust them not to be watching the parking lot.”

“You don’t have to do that. I have been walking out of here for years now and never had any trouble.”
