CHAPTER13
Four margaritas later, a whole box of tissues, and I am a crying-waisted drunk.
“That damn phone of yours hasn’t stopped, would you put it out of its misery, or do you need me to perform again?”
“I don’t want to be the grownup, tell whoever it is to go away.”
The phone buzzes again and I see Alecia reach for it on the table. I could have sworn I was reaching out to stop her, but it feels like I am moving in slow motion.
“Hey, Jenna… it's Playboy!”
I can’t help the giggle that leaves my throat as I try to shush her.
“He… wa..nts to know where you're a…t.”
I shake my head no and wave my hands in the air back and forth… “Noooo.”
“Playboy she is incapaci…tat…ed right now and your friend..ss and family su..ck! Leave my girl alone, you have made her sad… and now I don’t li…ke you.”
She hangs the phone up and I fall back on the couch pointing at her. “You are so…bad. And…he su…cks. But…he is a gre…at kiss…er! Did I tell yuuu th..at?”
Alecia is pouring us another concoction when I think I hear someone knocking on the door. “Hey, the door is making noises.”
“No way, let’s go see if it’s someone else who wants to play with us.” Alecia peeks through the door and giggles. “I think it’s your man.”
She starts to open the door and I shut it back. Both of us slide to the door giggling. “Noo, he can’t come in.”
“Why is he here?”
“Jenna, it's Dage; open the door.”
Before I can say a word Alecia has cracked the door open and is looking up at him, from where she is sitting on the floor. “Hey Playboy, ni…ce to see you, but your main squeeze…she…she. Hell, what are you do..in… again, Jenna?”
“Alecia, can I come in? It seems like you two may need some assistance.”
“Nope, we're good right here on the floor, Playboy. Did I tell you that your friends suck? I’m a gre..at friend. I acted like me, and sweet cheeks here… were an item to run the bad man off.”
“Alecia, move away from the door, honey.”
“Jenna, sweet cheeks, he wants us to move, but I'm kinda com…fortab…le down here.”
I don’t remember moving, but the next thing I know someone is picking me up off the floor. Startled, I jerk, only to look up into familiar blue eyes.
“Hey, whatcha doing here? This is a girls-only club.”
“We’re breaking protocol this evening. Alecia is going to head to bed, and I believe it’s time for you to go home.”
“Opay, opay…give me a min…ute tooo find my keys.”
“You are not driving anywhere.”
“Party pooper, yuu… no fun…I’ll just stay here. I have to be somewhere in the morning…can’t remember when though.”
I feel him maneuvering me through the doorway and down the steps. My head is spinning, so I close my eyes, and lean against his chest. “You sure smell good, Playboy.”
I don’t remember getting in his car or the drive home. When he stops the car in the driveway it wakes me up and I stumble out of the seat before he can get to my side. I close my eyes when I feel myself swaying from side to side.
When he picks me up again I let out a little screech. Then since my brain is working in slow motion I could have sworn I heard Brutus hit the fence with his head and then something breaking. I hear Dage cussing, but it’s all a blur.
