He climbs off the bed and rifles through his suitcase. He pulls out something small and joins me on the bed once again.

“What’s that?” I ask.

He hands the box to me. I flip open the lid and find a gorgeous diamond ring inside.

“Oh my God, AJ! What is this?”

“Your engagement ring. I told you, I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. My mom just beat me to the punch.”

I kiss him as he slides the ring onto my finger. It’s dark in the room, but the diamond sparkles in the moonlight.

“This is perfect. Thank you, AJ. I love you so much.”

“I love you, too, Amber. I can’t wait to love you for the rest of our lives.”

I snuggle against my fiancé. Just over two years ago, I was lonely and worried I’d never find anyone. A chance encounter led me to the love of my life.
