Not even the neighbors were close enough to really see their houses.
She got out after him, walking around, and took a deep breath. The one thing that she had found after living with Garrett was that she would not miss moving every few weeks, but it was hard to be indoors all the time after living in the circus.
“What is this place?” she asked, looking around for a hint as to why he would have brought her out here.
“It’s ours.” She stopped, before slowly turning to stare at him.
“What?” she whispered.
Had she heard that right? The soft smile on his face said she had.
“It’s ours. I’ve had it for a few years, but I’ve just never done anything with it. But now I have you, and I want you to have a home.”
A home.
Her eyes filled with tears before she could stop them.
A real home.
“Hey,” he whispered, stepping forward and wrapping his arms around her. “No tears.” He brushed her tears away with his thumb, only for more to take their place as he cupped her head in his hands.
“A home.” She sobbed.
“Yes, baby, a home.” Her chest felt as if it was going to explode. She barely managed to breathe as she leaned up and kissed him before he quickly took over.
Thrusting his tongue in and sealing her heart with their love, with something that only he could give her as he nipped and sucked at her mouth.
He pulled back, his thumbs rubbing over her cheeks, a smile on his face as he gazed down at her.
This was him giving her the life that she needed.
That she had dreamed of.
Even if she had never said anything, he had known what a home would mean to her. Known that she needed this dream.
“I love you,” she whispered, the words no longer feeling heavy.
His eyes softened, and she knew before he spoke that she was safe, loved, and that he loved her back.
Chapter 15
3 years later - mercy
“Grandmacalledagain,”hewhispered, sneaking up behind her as she was chopping vegetables for their dinner.
“I know,” she whispered back, and she could feel him smiling into her neck.
“I know you want to help, but I really think we should wait,” he said softly, kissing along her neck as his hand slid along the front of her and around her big belly.
Ever since the day that he had rescued her, they had always stayed close to each other. They were often teased about their PDA, but she loved it. Garrett loved being close to her, touching her, and when they had found out she was pregnant, he had turned in to a cuddly raging bear.
One minute, raging at someone for even daring to come too close to her still very small belly as they could have hurt her, and the next, rubbing his hands over her body.
It didn’t help that hormones had her body practically on fire twenty-four seven and she really couldn’t get enough of him.
“I’ll call her and tell her not this time.” He kissed her one last time before walking out of the kitchen of their house that they had built together.
It was a simple farmhouse with three bedrooms. Nothing fancy, but it was perfect.
