Love you,

Beloved,

I am literally shaking I’m so excited, so I can’t imagine what you must be feeling like. I’ll admit, my nerves are through the roof because I’m scared that I won’t make it. The flight will take me twelve to fourteen hours – and apparently labor can last that long.

Keep me posted – and I went to talk to Reilly today.

Must have caught him on a GREAT day because he actually smiled, shook my hand, and patted me on the shoulder, saying ‘no problem’… who knew?

Always and forever,

Ryan

CHAPTER35

REAPER

Honey– go ahead and get that plane ticket.

I’m at a three on dilation and they will admit me to the hospital at a four. I can’t feel any contractions yet, but Dr. Bow said they are there. Lucky me? She said it could still be a day or two before I progress, but things are moving along.

I keep hearing from Delilah, Marisol, Harley, and Glory about how horrific their labor was… but truthfully? This isn’t half bad right now and I’m sure it will get stronger. All I have is a dull backache, so yay for me!

See you soon, Daddy!

Love

Sophie

Ryan readthe email and flew out of his chair, making a beeline for Colonel Reilly’s office. He greeted the receptionist, went ahead and filled out the vacation request sheet to have in hand before bothering the colonel.

Two minutes later, he was shaking Colonel Reilly’s hand again – and running for his bag. He ran down the hallway, barely sliding into the barracks and saw several sets of eyes look up in surprise.

“Dang Reaper… you okay, buddy?”

“Nope. Yep. In a BIG hurry… I’m heading to DFW,” Ryan rushed in a distracted voice, yanking his canvas bag from his footlocker and setting it on the bed. He hurriedly started gathering his things, dropping a few items on the floor, stepping on them, and then picking them up regardless of the footprint on them.

“Sophie and the baby?” Hot Cakes said, getting to his feet and helping pick up a few things.

Ryan dropped his socks on the ground, and another pair fell, before just throwing them down on the bed, putting his hands on his hips, and taking several deep breaths. He was shaking and so nervous right now, that it was really getting at him.

“She’s going into labor, and they are talking about admitting her tomorrow or the following day,” Ryan uttered, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’m a mess and I’m not even the one going into labor.”

“Oh man… you gotta go!”

“I know. I’m hurrying,” Ryan chuckled, cramming his things messily in his duffle bag. “I should have had this packed already but…”

“Do you need anything?”

“A quick flight? A good tail wind?” Ryan grinned. “I bought my ticket online and take off in three hours.”

“Do you need us to notify anyone there so they can pick you up? I can email Thumper or Valkyrie…”
