“Thank you.”
“I love you.”

CHAPTER30
KAREN
The email Karenreceived from Jana was surprising… and understandable. She’d seen it on her face when she was up there for Thanksgiving. Envy and loneliness. Jace’s sister wanted someone to talk to and she couldn’t blame her in the slightest.

Dear Karen,
Can you please pull some strings with my brother and tell him to quit being such a dweeb. I’m an adult and would like to have someone to talk to – that is why I reached out to him – so he could pair me up with a pen pal that is halfway decent. I can meet trash at a bar in town all by myself…
Jace is making wayyyy too much of this and flipping his lid. I don’t think he understands what being lonely is like and I’m just wanting a friend that can give me a little more insight as to what his life is like.
He’s not listening – see the below email.
Typical brother…
Thanks, Karen.
Love,
Jana

Karen swallowed hard.
Her initial thoughts were that Jana was too immature to understand that Karen was not going to come between her spouse and her sister-in-law. Jana would lose every time… however… there was nothing wrong with maybe explaining a little more to her husband, who shut his sister down firmly.

Jana,
No.
I love you, but no, sis…
Not just no – NO WAY. Period. Nope. Never.
Love,
Jace

Karen could practically seeJace’s reaction and his grim expression as he wrote the email back… but it was in the delivery.
Perhaps she would explain that to Jana when they were face-to-face because there was no way she was putting that in writing, to be forwarded to her husband or anyone else.
