I really miss your smile and our chats in the morning over coffee at Flyboys. That was our special time and I really looked forward to seeing you there each morning.
(Never thought I would ever admit that… just FYI)
Please be safe – for me?
Always yours,
Karen

Hey Tink,
I bought our plane tickets for Thanksgiving. I hope you don’t mind that I took it upon myself to do so. I know you are going to be setting up your classroom this week and have a lot on your plate – plus this gives us both something to look forward to. We can change them if we need to, or if the time frames don’t work.
I have me flying out of here (gotta be evasive during open communication) on that Tuesday night, so I will be at DFW on Wednesday afternoon. I have you flying with me (yay!) from DFW to Hartford, Connecticut (same distance but cheaper flight, than from Boston) and we’ll get a rental car (already set up).
Our return flights are that Sunday morning, so we both have a chance to get back on time. They are red-eye flights (sorry) so we might need to stay in Hartford on Saturday night or get up extremely early on Sunday.
I get to hold my favorite girl again!
Have I mentioned Holland is a little town? We have no airport there. Be ready to be ‘wowed’ by tiny, winding roads, massive pine trees, and the epitome of quaintness. If we need anything, we can drive over to Sturbridge… or just hide away from the world at my parents.
They are so excited to meet you – in fact – Mom said she was going to email you directly.
I love you,
Jace

Hey Jace,
I am honestly relieved you bought the tickets because I noticed on a map that there was no international airport and wasn’t sure what location would be best – so thank you. I would have never imagined Hartford and was actually eyeing Providence or Springfield instead.
I got your mother’s email and wow – she’s an absolute sweetheart! Apparently, your cousins, your sister, and several other family members are coming over for Thanksgiving.
I told my parents that I was going to Massachusetts to meet your family for the holiday – and they ‘laid dibs’ on having us at their house for Christmas. I said ‘yes’… but we never discussed Christmas and I don’t know if you can take two trips so close together. I guess we’ll need to talk about it or make plans – if you can.
This feels so weird planning out our lives like this – but I’m excited. You were so right – it gives us something to look forward to.
I love you,
Karen

Hey Tinkerbell,
I really like planning our future together – and I will put in for Christmas immediately and let you know if it gets approved.
I would love to spend the holiday with you and your family. They certainly do get to ‘call dibs’ since I am planning on monopolizing all of your time as much as possible. (I’m smiling at that)
Speaking of futures – I think today was the first day of school, wasn’t it? I can’t believe it’s been three weeks already. I googled the school district online and printed the calendar, so I have a copy here.
I hope you have some good students in your class. You’ll have to send me a photo of how you decorated your classroom. I know nothing about what you do, except what I can remember of my own time when I was little. Walking into a classroom that first day is scary sometimes… and I was the chicken that used to sit at the back of the class, hoping not to get called on…
I miss you – and let me know if you’re meeting up with Sophie for coffee (Reaper’s wife). He’s a good guy and taking the separation hard. I understand only too well. I feel… adrift, like a part of me is missing.
