“And you,” he smiled at her, causing her to look away.

He was so nice, looked so friendly, and she wished that all those feelings and emotions had been for this kind man standing beside her.

But they weren’t.

No, she thought sadly, placing her hand on X-Ray’s proffered arm and trying to focus. They were going to be walking into the sanctuary one couple at a time – and then she was taking her place at the front beside Karen.

She was not here to check out some strange guy…

Glancing around, she tried to keep it from being glaringly obvious that she was wanting to take a second look at the man who outstretched his arm politely to Emily.

Gahhhh… lucky girl, Jana thought morosely, watching them. She was going to maim her brother ifthatcould have been her pen pal and he picked someone ‘safe’for her to talk to.

“Everything looks so nice,” X-Ray said quietly to her. “I heard from Hot Cakes that you girls were here late last night setting up.”

“Yup,” she replied bluntly, and winced at how rude she was, before looking at him. “I’m sorry. I’m just a little scatterbrained today because I’m tired.”

“I understand. Maybe we can have coffee after that promised dance and talk?”

“Sure,” she said idly, looking forward and completely distracted.

Hearing the music start up in the distance, the train of participants slowly moved forward to enter the sanctuary. Jana tried not to recognize that flutter of emotion in her chest as she stepped inside, taking a moment, before slowly walking forward on X-Ray’s arm.

As she walked, she couldn’t help but admire the figure of the breathtaking man that had caught her eye immediately, walking down the aisle with Emily to take their places at the front. His shoulders were wide, and his jacket looked like it was tailored to fit him exactly, making his hips look incredibly lean, and those legs…

… Only to see him glance over his shoulder, looking back at her, and meeting her eyes.

Jana stepped on her own foot.

X-Ray caught her slightly, his arm supporting her to keep her from falling flat on her face, there in the aisle. She cast a quick look to see if the handsome pilot noticed, but he was now taking his place beside her brother at the front of the church.

Glancing up at X-Ray, she nodded gratefully before looking away.

Just a few more steps, she thought numbly, adjusting her dress, and looked up at her brother. She met Jace’s eyes as he smiled at her – and she couldn’t help but grin at the big dork who looked so supremely happy in that moment.

Gosh, she loved her brother and was so happy that he’d found Karen.

Unconsciously, her eyes slid towards the gorgeous man standing beside him – to see him watching her as well…

Jace’s smile faltered.

Jana jerked her gaze away, looking at the carpet runner along the aisle to make sure she didn’t miss a step again.Interesting, she mused, why would Jace be concerned at her even looking at the other guy?

“Got it?” X-Ray asked softly.

“Yes, thank you. It’s the heels…” she said in explanation and then nodded, leaving his side to stand right beside Emily at the front of the church.

She saw X-Ray take his place beside ‘Mr. Greek God’and nearly let out an audible sigh, dragging her eyes away from his again, to look at each couple that walked in the church.

As they entered, one at a time, the couples with children or families waiting, took their seats in the pews that were marked off.

It was only her and Emily standing at the front.

The very pregnant woman, Sophie, with the pilot beside her, took her to a pew and Jana saw his head duck towards the woman, saying something, that caused her to nod with an expression of relief.

Jana heard the volume of the music suddenly change. Everyone in the chapel, except Sophie, rose to their feet. The pregnant woman remained seated – and she knew the man, Caboose, had probably told her to.

She saw Karen appear in the doorway, looking like a fairytale princess, and saw that her gaze was zeroed in on her brother. Her entire being lit up and Jana chanced a glance at her brother to see that he was staring at Karen…
