Matthew
CHAPTER24
JANA
Getting home late,Jana nearly collapsed in bed – right after sending Matthew a quick email. She saw his email but didn’t open it because her eyes were practically crossing, she was so exhausted. Instead, she sent a quick, abrupt email, hoping he understood.

Hey Darling,
It’s nearly four in the morning, and I just walked in the door. I am so emotionally and physically exhausted that I thought about pulling over to sleep in my car.
I saw your email, but I just can’t read it yet – too tired. I miss your smile so much right now and have your T-shirt on just so I can smell you.
Will write more tomorrow.
Love always,
Jana

The next morning,Jana woke up groggily at nine, grateful she’d set an alarm. She could function on five hours of sleep… not well, but she could physically function. She was working from home today and wouldn’t be back in the office until Monday.
Thank goodness.
Getting a cup of coffee, she smiled sadly, realizing that she was really used to Matthew waking her up with one, kissing her cheek, and smoothing back her hair. Oh yes, it was the little things that she missed terribly. Holding hands, smiling, the way they just seemed to enjoy being in the world together…
Jana sighed – both happy, and yet lonely at the same time.
Sitting on the couch, she took a deep drink of her coffee as she read Matthew’s email… and nearly drowned in the hot beverage.
Her coffee rushed down her windpipe, causing her to cough abysmally as she sent droplets of fluid spraying all over her screen and keyboard painfully. Setting it down, she got up and painfully coughed and coughed, finally expelling it as tears streaked down her face.
She wasn’t sure if it was the coffee or his words.
He was going to tell her brother about them – and he wanted to change her last name from Sorensen to Barlow, making it official between them.
She was so touched by the sweetness of his email that she was positive if someone did an EKG on her right now, they would be stunned. She was certain that it looked like a seismograph at this point, putting her hand over her racing heartbeat.
He wanted to get married?
He wanted her brother’s support of their relationship?
She thought she was nuts about the matching little bands, promising things, but he was talking marriage… and she loved it.

Hey you sexy,wild, crazy man…
Are you asking what I think you’re asking? Are you saying what I’m hoping you are saying? Ohhhh, my goodness… YES! YES! YES!
And you are going to tell Jace?
Well, I suppose I should be calling my parents (and Karen) today because if I know my brother? He’ll be ratting me out in a heartbeat looking for support for his emotions.
Remember, he’ll be mad, but only because he’s protective… and duck!!! Jace can be aggressive until he has had a chance to think. He doesn’t like being out of control and doesn’t like anyone telling him differently or no.
