“One week, Ivan. That’s all you get. If I don’t have my shit by then, I’m going with Arman.”
Without showing too much enthusiasm, I gave him a smile. “Ah, you won’t regret it.”
Spero was quick to leave, reminding me of his threat to put me at the bottom of the ocean if I didn’t deliver. As if that held any merit in my eyes. I could kill Spero before he even tried to do anything. But that was only a worst-case scenario. I wasn’t about to kill off our biggest client without one hell of a reason.
I hung around a bit, trying to get in contact with Mihailo to make sure he was alright. Knowing Arman was on good terms with Spero left a sour taste in my mouth, and I didn’t trust his moves.
Mihailo wasn’t answering, so I was about to head back to the car to drive to the hotel and check on him myself, but a car pulled up—a car that wasn’t Spero’s.
I immediately stepped back into the building, ducking down low to see who was there. Two men stepped out of the car, clearly looking for me by the way they inspected the vehicle. They peeked inside the windows, and when they saw no one, their heads jerked in every direction.
Well, I mustn’t disappoint.
“Come all this way for me, boys?” I stepped out from behind the wall in the rundown building, holding out my arms to show them I was fearless. Whoever these assholes were, they weren’t going to intimidate me.
“Ivan Koslov. Just the man we were looking for,” said the familiar face.
“Dominik Nikitin.”
The bastard who stole my guns. Arman’s right-hand man. He was just another dirty oligarch in Russia, boasting his way to success through his connections.
But what the hell was he doing here?
“Ah, you know me. This will make what I’m about to do much more enjoyable.”
He pulled out a gun and my instincts took over. Without even thinking about my moves, I rolled to the side, ducking behind an old piece of plywood that jutted out, just as Dominik took his shot. I aimed at the accomplice, the only one I had a clear shot of at this angle, and shot him in the shoulder.
“Looks like your friend’s a pussy,” I taunted as the man ran off, leaving me alone with Dominik.
“You see, Ivan. That’s what I detest about you Koslov’s. You always—”
Bang.
Right between the eyes.
Dominik’s body fell to the floor, a puddle of blood pooling around him. chunks of his brain were scattered across the floor and all I could think was how much of a mess that would be for someone to clean up.
“You see, Dominik. That’s what I detest about you,” I said, grabbing a fistful of his hair to see his eyes wide open, the red soaking his skin. “You never know when to shut the fuck up.”
Letting go of his head, I dropped it back to the ground, shaking the blood from my hands.Great. Now my hands are dirty. The prick…
I phoned Mihailo again, getting into my rental and taking off from the scene of the crime. Not that anyone would see him there—no one’s been around there for years.
Finally, he answered. “Mihailo,” I said, a hint of irritation in my voice. “Where the fuck have you been, man? I’ve been calling you.” I was glad he was okay, but I was too pissed by his unresponsive behavior to tell him.
“We have trouble,” I said. “I’m on my way back to the hotel. Call Andrey. Tell him to fire up the jet. I need you back in Greece to dispose of a body…”

The warm water beat down against my skin, and steam filled the small bathroom. I closed my eyes, relaxing my shoulders, allowing the water to massage the top of my head in a soothing pulse.
After we left Ivan and his group on the beach, I promised Viktor we’d go out to dinner. “Just let me shower first.” I was soaked in sweat and cocktails from when I spilled my drink on Ivan.
I still couldn’t get over it—the nerve of that man. Asking me to dinner when my fiancé wasright there.
Okay, so maybe we weren’t actually engaged, but he didn’t know that! It showed me his true character, to say the least. What pissed me off even more was the disappointment I’d felt.
