Vax held in his sigh at the whispered question. It would have been nice to forget for a little longer.
“I don’t know. Maybe. The Council as a whole is upset about not getting the amount of crystals they need in the time they want, though a majority of them have no direct problem with it. The Chancellors who need the crystals to meet their own production orders are the ones who are really on my back about it, and unfortunately, they’re also the ones who have the richest planets, and therefore, the most pull.”
He stroked a hand down her side, marveling at her pale skin and the softness of it as he considered the possibilities.
“If I can follow your plan and make them feel betrayed as much as we were, I think everything will be fine, though the dinner will certainly anger some of them. I know not everyone was involved in either issue, but the Council needs to realize the actions of a few reflect on all of them.”
Alana sighed, shifting against him until she could look over her shoulder and meet his eye.
“Do you want me to come with you? My father is certain to be there considering this is the first meeting since Libeqor wasaccepted, and he’ll be eager to get his say in. It would sway at least one Chancellor to your side.”
Vax brushed her hair off her cheek, fighting the automatic reaction to refuse. He didn’t want Alana involved in case things got ugly, but she had a point about her father. Plus, she’d already given him so much good advice, having her there could make a difference in how things turned out.
Her comment about how her father had controlled her life came back to him and something inside clenched.
“I want to protect you from any possible repercussions, but I may need your help. It’s your choice.”
Her eyes widened and she sucked in a deep breath, the look on her face showing she hadn’t expected his response. Smiling down at her, he waited, but he knew what she was going to say. He might not like it, but he appreciated it none the less.
“I guess I need to get ready then.”
His knot came loose at that moment, a rush of fluid gushing around it as he withdrew. Alana grimaced, trying to push herself up, but Vax pulled her flat against the bed again. Rolling on top of her, he leaned down and took her lips with his, the way she melted and opened to him sending a fresh surge of blood to his shaft and making it twitch between them.
Alana broke away form the kiss, pushing against his chest.
“Again? Really?”
Vax huffed before leaning in to finish his kiss.
“I knew before I met you that you’d become an addiction. I could spend a week buried between your thighs.”
Alana scoffed, pushing at his chest and turning her head when he tried to steal her lips once more. Undeterred, he pressed his mouth to her jaw, following the line of it to her ear before working his way down her throat. She squirmed beneath him, her nipples beading and scraping against him, but she only pushed harder.
“Vax! There’s no time.”
He growled against her neck, making her shudder, but he knew she was right. Plus, he knew she was sore, and as bad as he ached to sheath himself inside her, he didn’t want to cause her more pain.
Swallowing his growl, he pushed himself up on his arms and sighed.
“Fine, but if we make it through the night without me being arrested, I plan to eat you until you can’t walk.”
Her chest flushed, the color surging up her neck to settle in her cheeks. He doubted she’d admit to it, but he knew she enjoyed his tongue on her pussy, maybe more than his cock.
Sliding off the side of the bed, he took her hands and pulled her to him before shifting his hold to her waist and throwing her over his shoulder. She let out a squeal and clutched at him as if she thought he would let her fall, her hair brushing against his ass as he strode to the bathroom.
They didn’t have a lot of time before they needed to be in the dining room, but he still drew a warm bath, letting her soak in the water. He massaged her lower back as she sat in his lap before curling his hands around to the front to rub her lower belly and thighs as her head rested on his shoulder. He meant for it to be soothing, but the scent of her arousal wafted to him, even through the water, and he released a rumble.
“You’re going to make us late, Princess.”
She sat up, her laugh echoing back to him from the wall they faced.
“It’s not my fault. Maybe you should stop touching me.”
“Never,” he growled, raking his teeth over the top of her shoulder.
Alana shuddered, a wave of goosebumps rushing across her skin before he spun her to face him.
“You’re mine, Alana. I knew it the moment I saw your picture. I couldn’t think of anything but having you, and it scared me because I knew you were the only thing that could distract me from my duty to Farcon 1. I swore I’d keep you at arm’s length and keep my focus where it’s supposed to be, but it was too hard.”
