He brushed his hand against mine, but we kept our attention on the small box in front of us. It was about the size of a small cooler, and I instantly knew that Razor was right. It wasn’t going to be good. Vas stepped forward, flicking open a knife and opening the seals, then he pulled the lid off. Since I was standing, I could see a flash of flesh as soon as the lid was out of the way, and I grabbed Bodhi’s hand. He was already trembling, so I pulled him close just as Sacha started letting out a string of what I assumed were curses in Russian.
“Well, it’s not a boy’s hand, at least,” Alexei said evenly. “Could be Gabriel’s? Who else would they send to us?”
“I wish that was reassuring,” Vas commented darkly, tilting the cooler to show us the dismembered hand. There was no note inside, but it didn’t need one. It was a right hand; every single finger was broken in multiple places, and the raw edges on the stump made me think it had been removed with some kind of handsaw. The cold detachment I felt as I assessed the hand should concern me, but I was more worried about what would happen once the cold thawed.
“Rhodes!” a familiar woman’s voice yelled out. There was fear and anger in the woman’s tone, though neither emotion seemed to be aimed at the man she was addressing.
“What the hell is going on today?” Rhodes cursed as we all turned to see Wrenn rushing over. She had been another surprise. The moment she found out Nic was missing, she was determined to help us find her, keeping an ear out for rumors for us to look into and checking in through Alexei and Rhodes for updates. She wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, willing to do anything we asked if it helped Nic. Even Bodhi was slowly starting to trust her, a feat to be sure. Was she trying to join this fucked up group of ours, or was she trying overly hard for redemption because of her past with Nic? Or was it something else entirely? I had no idea, and right now I was cautiously waiting to see how it all played out.
“What happened?” Maksim asked curtly.
Wrenn’s face paled as she got closer and saw the cooler, but with a deep breath, her expression smoothed out. “There’s another body right outside the compound. One of the ones that’s made up to look like Nic. The dye job was horrible, and… it’s the worst one.”
“Who found it?” Alexei asked her as he and Maksim headed in the direction Wrenn had come from.
“Me and one of the other girls. She ran back to the women’s quarters. It’s only going to be a matter of time before they all know.”
“We should check the security footage for the compound,” I said, pulling Bodhi with me. “I’ll get started on that. Bodhi, you can help me look.”
“How is it that Nic can make my life a shitshow without even being here?” Rhodes griped as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it. “You two take care of the hand. Get whatever you need, then dispose of it. I’ll look at the body.”
Razor joined his president as he stalked after his nephews. Bodhi didn’t say anything as I led the way through the compound, upstairs, and into Maksim’s office. I had gotten the login info for the security system a few weeks ago, both of us spending nights combing through everything to find any hints as to who had infiltrated the Lords of Chaos to take all those pictures. Nic’s stalker was good, though; we never found a hint of them or saw anyone suspicious.
Walking into the room, I sat down and got the security footage pulled up. When Bodhi didn’t bring over a chair to join me, I looked up to find him standing by the door, staring at me. He was worrying his bottom lip, a sign that he had a lot going on inside him.
“What’s up, Bodhi? You want to go with Sacha?” I asked. Concern tugged at me when Bodhi didn’t respond for a minute. Was any of this bringing up his trauma with his mom and sister? Did I get so caught up in my own shit that I’d missed that Bodhi needed me?
“No. Sacha and Vas can handle disposing the hand without me.” Bodhi stepped inside and shut the door. Before I could ask what he was thinking, Bodhi knelt in front of me. He stared up at me as he ran his hands up my legs. “You’re wound so tight, Oli. I’m worried about you.”
“I think we all are,” I said gruffly, threading my fingers through his long hair and pulling, loving the way he whimpered at the hint of pain. Him using Nic’s nickname for me made me hard as hell. I missed her, every fucking thing about her, until I felt like I was going mad without her. It was stupid to feel like everything was almost less without her here, but I knew I wasn’t alone even if we didn’t talk about it. Had I, being lost in my heartache and flashbacks of my past, pushed Bodhi away again? Was I pushing aside my relationship with him and making him feel less? That’s something I would never want to happen. I loved Bodhi, more than he probably even knew. He’d saved me. “Have I been neglecting you, Bodhi? Is this your way of saying you need me?”
“Always,” he whispered breathily. “But I think you need me more, Oli. Let me help you get some of this tension out.”
“I don’t think Maksim would appreciate us fucking in his office. In fact, I think he’d kill us slowly and painfully if we even dinged his computer setup, much less came all over his desk.”
Bodhi laughed, the most carefree laugh I’d heard from him in a while. “I wasn’t thinking anything that intense.” He shuffled on his knees until he was under Maksim’s desk then pulled the chair to the desk again. Before I could blink, he was undoing my jeans, pulling my cock free, and licking at the pre-cum on the head of my dick.
I groaned, my thighs tensing thanks to his teasing, as he swirled his tongue around the head before licking me from root to tip. Bodhi grazed his teeth along my length before he opened up and took me into his mouth. He didn’t take me far though, giving me a few playful swirls of his tongue along my piercings.
Fuck.
He pulled away for a brief moment to tell me to get to work then put me back inside his hot, wet mouth. The fucking menace was going to suck me gently, cockwarming my dick as I worked on the footage. I felt my cock thicken, and he hummed in response, making my dick jump.
“I’ll get you back for this,” I hissed at him, the warning turning into a moan when his long fingers freed my balls from my jeans. “I’m checking this, then I’m fucking your throat until you can’t talk for a week.”
I felt his laughter vibrating along my length and squeezed my thighs around him. Fucking brat, he must have taken notes from Nic when I wasn’t looking. With a deep breath, I tried to steady myself and center my thoughts. Bodhi stopped his teasing touches, resting his cheek against my thigh as he gently sucked on my dick while I started digging through files. With Bodhi on his knees at my feet, me working on a computer… It was the most centered and normal I had felt in weeks.
Once I found the camera that showed everyone crowded around something on the ground, I enlarged that screen and a few others nearby, looking back an hour or so to see if I could find anyone hanging out or dropping the body. A few cars drove by, and some pedestrians passed, but no one lingered near the compound. Everyone knew this was Lords of Chaos territory, and they didn’t give warnings to trespassers. A few guys in the club entered and left, but there was no one suspicious.
One second, the body wasn’t there, then it was, the corpse splayed out on the ground like a rag doll. I rewinded the footage a few times before I spotted it—a glitch in the corner of the screen, almost imperceptible but still there. Someone had messed with the footage or camera. On a hunch, I started checking out the other cameras, looking for another glitch to help me trace a path.
Bodhi flicked his tongue along the underside of my cock, making me groan and jerk my hips to push my cock deeper inside of him. He sucked on me harder until I reached down, tugging his hair just enough to get his attention.
“Behave, Bodhi,” I warned. “I think I found something.” He tried to pull off of my dick, but I pushed him down, keeping him right where he was. “No footage of who dropped the body, but I saw a glitch in the video. Someone messed with the security feed. I’m trying to trace the glitches to see how our guy got here.”
Bodhi nodded slightly in acknowledgment, but he didn’t try to move when I removed my hand from his head. Concentrating on the screens again, I lost myself in the hunt for this asshole who kept evading us. He, or she, was the reason Nicholette had left us without a word. No goodbye, all her stuff gone, a copy of what Ava had done to us, minus a goodbye letter.
A vibration caught my attention, and I checked my phone to find Sacha and Vas messaging that they’d taken care of the hand and were going to talk to Rhodes. I had shot back a text, letting them know I was still watching the cameras just as the door opened. Bodhi‘s rhythm faltered, and I squeezed my thighs around him, holding him in place. Maksim was stalking toward me, the usual glower on his face.
