Page 22 of Their Domme

She was standing there talking to Ansel F?rstner. Whatever was being discussed was intense, which was almost enough to have me striding forward, but then my jaw dropped when he grabbed her and kissed her. As if that weren’t enough, she didn’t knee him in the dick or push him away and knock him out. No, she actually responded, kissing him back.Oh hell no.

We were on our feet and out the door in seconds, but we both stopped short when they broke apart as two other men joined them. I swore to god if we didn’t kick Nic’s ass, Vas was going to the moment he heard about this. The memory of him chasing Nic down at the club after the bullshit with Finn and Lacey flashed through my mind.

“Think the baby will stop him?” Maksim asked dryly, his eyes flicking over to meet mine. Although he was showing his trademark smirk, it didn’t reach his eyes. I wasn’t surprised he was thinking the same thing I was.

“No,” I replied with a rough laugh as I ran a hand through my hair. “We need to tell them she’s here.”

“And find out who the fuck those other guys are,” Maksim growled. He pulled out a cigarette and lit it before he grabbed his phone. “I’ll call Rhodes.”

“Thanks so much, brother,” I snarked, ignoring the heat that filled me when his smirk warmed in response.Asshole.

Walking away from him, I selected Sacha’s name and waited for him to pick up, keeping an eye on Nic as she talked to the men around her. Right before the voicemail picked up, the call was answered, though it was Vas, not Sacha, who spoke.

“Did you get Oliver and Bodhi out?” I couldn’t say I minded that he cut right to the chase.

“No,” I replied. “But you both should get down here. Now.”

“We are a little busy at the—” Sacha tacked on, his annoyance coming through.

“You’re not now,” I said, firmly cutting him off. “She’s here.”

A heavy pause.

“Nicholette is there?!” Sacha asked. The hair on the back of my neck stood on end at the promise of violence and pain in his voice.

“Is she under arrest?” Vas added on. A gunshot sounded in the background, then the shuffling noise told me they were moving.

“No,” I said quietly. I wasn’t sure how they were going to take this next part, but I knew I couldn’t keep it to myself. “She isn’t alone.”

“Don’t tell me, Maeve?” Vas guessed.

“Ansel F?rstner,” I said grimly. “And a few others I don’t know. Maksim is talking to Rhodes right now.”

“We will be there in ten,” Sacha promised, then he disconnected the call.

“Rhodes is on his way,” Maksim said from beside me, blowing out smoke along with his words.

“Did you mention the kiss?”

“Fuck no.” Maksim inhaled deeply. “That’s on Nic, not me.”

“You don’t care?” I asked, surprised, yet not, as I waited for his answer.

“She’s alive, and she came back. Even if it’s not permanent yet, she’ll be back for good. Or did you really think she just happened to show up while Bodhi and Oli were here?” I paused and stared at him. He just shook his head at me like I was being slow. “Nicholette is a schemer, Alexei. She has plans upon plans in that brain of hers. Keeping us guessing is part of her fun. The question is whether she’ll share some of it with us, or is she just here to save those two?”

“And Ansel?” I asked.

“Don’t know about that one. Besides, he kissed her first, not the other way around. But, like I said, that’s on her to explain. Her being with someone else doesn’t affect her being with me or us being together, so why should I care?” It was jarring to hear him mention our relationship out loud and prioritize it. I’d done so much denying when it came to us that even while it warmed me, it gave me pause. He took another long drag of his cigarette just as the front door of the police station opened to reveal Detective Allen.

“Nicholette,” he called out, raising a hand. “Glad you could make it.”

Nic turned around to face him, her cocky smirk firmly in place as she pulled away from Ansel’s hold. Roderick offered his arm to her, leading the way. Nicholette didn’t glance our way as she came up the steps and made her way inside. Every part of me ached to reach out to her, to kiss her, scream at her, wanting fucking anything other than to be ignored.

“If she looks over here, she won’t be able to follow through with it,” a smooth voice commented beside me. I glanced over as Maksim did the same. Ansel F?rstner was standing beside us watching Nicholette disappear, the two men I didn’t know following them inside. “But I think it’s time I caught you up on what I do know.”
