“Finally,” Kenny mutters as he yawns and stretches. “I needed that little beauty nap.”
“There was nothing beautiful about the way you were snoring our ears off,” Sean grumbles, causing everyone to laugh.
“I don’t snore,” Kenny huffs as if he has just been insulted.
I gently place my hand on his shoulder.
“You do,” I nod.
Kenny merely rolls his eyes as he folds up his blanket and stuffs it inside of his man purse.
One by one, we all exit the plane. Leo Colt must have had his own private jet because he wasn’t on ours. We go on stage in a few hours, and I still haven’t met my idol yet. Rocky said that he would introduce us before the concert, but I doubt there will be enough time for that. I’m going to be in hair and makeup for the next four hours, and right after that, the show will start. It looks like I’ll meet Leo when we cross paths on stage.
A stretch limo comes to a stop in front of us, and we all get inside. I’m a little nervous about the show tonight, but I don’t want my dancers to know it. If I show that I’m worried, they might start worrying as well, and I don’t want that to happen. The truth is, I get nervous before every show, but I’ve never told anyone that before. I don’t even think Rocky knows. I always put on a brave face and look fierce on stage, but sometimes, I’m a complete mess before a concert.
I try not to think about my jittery nerves and instead only focus on the positive vibe that’s around me. I let the excitement surrounding me fill me up until every nerve in my body is settled. My dancers are ready to put on the best show that anyone in the audience has ever seen. They’ve been working really hard, and I appreciate all the blood, sweat, and tears they’ve poured into making the choreography for this tour spectacular.
“Tonight’s show is going to be awesome!” Lisa yells as she stretches out.
“I know. I can’t wait,” Bridget, another backup dancer, agrees.
“You guys are all going to do amazing tonight,” I state sincerely.
“And so are you,” Kenny nods. “You’re the star of the show.”
“I don’t know about that.” I slightly blush. “After all, Leo Colt is going to be there. He’s a rock legend.”
“Yeah, but you’re the one with the number one single in the country right now,” Kenny says.
He’s right, but it’s Leo Colt, for crying out loud. Whether he’s had a hit single in years or not, he still has a voice that could bring a tear to any woman’s eye.
“I guess you’re right,” I agree halfheartedly. “I wish I could meet him before the show starts.”
“We saw him,” Sean says.
“What?!? When? Where? How?”
Their eyes all lock on me, and I realize I’m no longer hiding my excitement to meet him. I sit back and try to appear calm, cool, and collected.
“Right before we got on the jet. He was nice, and Kenny was right – he is really hot for his age. I could see his rock-hard abs through his T-shirt,” Lisa adds.
I don’t know why, but for some strange reason, I feel jealous. I know she doesn’t mean any harm, but Leo is my crush. How could I have missed him?
“Where was I?” I ask.
“You were off talking to Rocky about something important. By the time you came back, he was already gone,” Kenny answers.
I sink into my seat. I know that eventually, I’ll run into him, but I wish I had gotten the chance to meet him when everyone else did.
“I had no idea you were that into his music,” Lisa comments.
Uh-oh. Hopefully, she can’t tell I have a major crush on him. If word gets out that I’m crushing on Leo, I’m sure it’ll get back to him, and then he’ll think I’m just a silly pop singer who’s infatuated with him. He might even think that’s why I asked him to come on tour with me.
“Well, he’s a musical legend, and my parents loved his music, so I listened to it a lot growing up,” I hedge, trying not to make it obvious that the thought of him makes my heart skip a beat.
“Well, when you do see him, you’re going to lose it because he is literally the sexiest man in the entire world,” Kenny gushes.
He’s my best friend, but most of the time he’s over the top, and he exaggerates everything.
“You’re probably just saying that,” I respond.
“No, he’s right. Leo Colt has to be the hottest guy I’ve ever seen in my life,” Bridget nods.
“He’s not that great,” Sean says.
“You’re just saying that because you’re jealous,” Lisa taunts.
“Nikki, when you see him in person, you’re going to fall in love,” Kenny predicts.
