Etheron

Sitting in my office with Dalia on my lap, kissing my neck with little pecks, I read over reports from different field commanders.

“I want to fuck so bad,” she whispers. “I want you all the way inside me.”

“I have work to see done. You’ll have to wait till I take my midmorning break.”

She bites her lip then licks my ear. “What if I get under your desk?”

A knock sounds and my butler enters. “Master, Commander Alastair has arrived.”

“Very well, see him to my office.” I kiss Dalia and gently push her from my lap. “Wait in my chambers.”

She leans into my ear. “I’ll be waiting in bed, Master.”

A grin slides across my face and I’m half tempted to make the commander wait till I sate my mate’s desires. I can’t take my eyes off her swaying hips as she passes through the door to the bedchambers.

Another knock on the door and a man enters wearing a thick cloak, obscuring everything beside his regulation boots, the tips of his gloved fingers, and shadowed lips beneath the long hood.

“Commander, sit.” I point to the chair across from me.

He sits straight-backed on the edge of the seat.

I tap the stack of papers on my desk. “I have your reports and those of your lieutenants. General disgruntlement is running through the ranks of the soldiers. Not something I like to hear.”

“Of course, sir.” His words come out more like a growl. Given his past, part of me is surprised his throat is able to form words at all.

“I chose you for this assignment because of your reputation. I need a strong, unshakable hand. Is that you?”

He bows his head. “Yes, General. I am.”

“There is too much disrest growing in Tlouz. You need to put an end to it. We cannot have a repeat of Black Skillet Cove, and we cannot yield any land to the orcs. Our mines are too precious and this petty uprising is going to cost us them.”

“Yes, sir.”

I snarl. “I don’t want to have to come down there to show them myself, Commander. That’s your job.”

He stands and bows at the waist. “Yes, sir. I will make sure the humans know their place. You can depend on me. I promise you won’t need to make any personal visits. I will not waste your time with such menial distractions.”

“I certainly hope so, Commander.”

“I swear it, General. I’ll handle the Tlouz encampments.”

I stand, rising slightly higher than Alistair. “Good. I don’t like having to clean up others' messes. If these types of reports continue to flood my desk, I’ll do the same to you as I did with Commander Calius.”

Alistair stiffens in his cloak. “That… That won’t be necessary.”

“Just to make sure we’re on the same page, recount to me what the former commander did, and what happened to him.”

“Y-Yes, sir.” Alistair stands straight, his lips pressed tight together. “Former Commander Calius Daraiu was stationed over a human settlement.”

“Like you.” I walk over to my drink cart and pour myself a mogabii. The dry sweetness has always been my drink of choice unless I’m looking to get hammered out of my mind. Ever since Dalia, I’ve been able to enjoy my drinks.

“Yes, sir. Like myself. There was an attack on the settlement which he failed to properly defend against, leaving more than half the settlement dead.”

“What does that lead to, Commander? Less humans means what?”

“Less revenue, sir.”
