“Don’t stop there. Tell me how you know all this. And ifhedidn’t tell you, should you even be tellingme? Or anyone, for that matter?”

Matt sighed, then got his phone out. “It’s not exactly a secret, boss.” He showed me the screen, pointing to an icon. It was a black square with a white letter S.

I frowned. “What is that?”

“It’s… an app, boss.”

I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, that much I got.”

“It’s a site for gay men, called… Scruff.”

“Oh. I see.”

And there went any thoughts that Matt was straight.Damn it, Teague was right. Gayest bunch of cowboys this side of the Rockies.

I pointed to the icon. “Areyouon there too?”

“Yeah.” He started to scroll.

I laid my hand on his arm. “Hey, don’t show me. I don’t wanna see.”

His flush deepened. “I wasn’t gonna show youmyprofile, boss—just his.” He held his phone up once more, and there was a headless torso shot. Not that it mattered—I’d seen those abs less than twenty-four hours ago. Then Matt scrolled, and I saw something else I recognized, only, it was thicker than it had been in the tub. Granted, it was an underwear shot, but hell, the outline was clear enough to make my dick twitch.

Maybe the water had been a little on the cool side.

Then Diana’s words came back to me, and I laughed.

“What’s so funny?”

“Diana got it right, you know.” Matt tilted his head to one side, and I grinned. “Youwouldmake someone a wonderful husband. Except she doesn’t know that someone would be a guy.”

He chuckled. “One day, maybe. I’m only thirty-six. There’s still time. And I’m not in any hurry. Rushing into things can be a huge mistake.” Before I could ask if he spoke from personal experience, he smiled. “So… we’re good?”

I returned his smile. “We are. Can’t say I’m not a little surprised—I had you down as batting for the other team, but I wasn’t certain.”

“I figured you’d be okay with it. Just checking.” He gave me a speculative glance. “Youwould, too.”

“I would what?”

“Make some guy a wonderful husband.” Then he dashed into the house, leaving me staring after him open-mouthed.

It wasn’t that he knew—hell, I was reconciled to the fact that everyone knew by now—it was that he felt comfortable enough to share the thought.

Then I let the rest of his revelations sink in.

Toby is gay.

I got the feeling Teague had known that all along. What had he said again?‘I think you’ll like him.’He’d been right about the whole Kevin vibe too. Then I got to wondering what else was on that app Matt had shown me.

I pulled my phone from my pocket, and typed in the search engine.

Scruff.

Chapter Fourteen

Robert

I sat in my rocker on the porch, waiting for Teague to arrive. When he’d called to ask if he could come on up, I figured it wasn’t anything serious. The man didn’t do drama.
