“As long as they follow protocol and let me know first, that’s fine,” Aaron growled.

“You can tell Secretary Fuller that when you see him tomorrow,” Vaughn said with a smirk.

“I will, don’t you worry.”

Vaughn looked at them. “Are you ready for tomorrow?”

A flash of pleasure washed through the soul bond, and Aaron smiled up at Marshall. “Yeah. Ready for tomorrow and for the rest of our lives.”

Marshall grinned down at him and leaned down to kiss him. Aaron took in the scent of his mate and swiped his tongue along his lower lip.

“Yes, well. I’ll leave you to it.”

Aaron was vaguely aware of his father leaving but soon forgot about him as his mate pulled him up into his arms.

Epilogue

Marshalllookedacrossthesun-kissed lawn, searching for his mate. The area was filled with pack members and other invited guests to witness their mating ceremony. There was a party feel to the air, and he smiled when he spotted Aaron in a small group of people, a toddler on his hip.

The youngster was snuggled into Aaron’s shoulder, thumb in her mouth, her eyes drooping with tiredness. One of the males talking to Aaron reached for her, but she gave a defiant shake of her head, causing those around her to laugh.

Marshall wandered over to where the group was, smiling as Aaron’s eyes lit up as he caught sight of him. Marshall slipped an arm around his waist, pressing a brief kiss to his cheek.

“Do I have competition for your affections?” he teased.

“I’m sorry, Marshall, as much as I love you, I’m afraid this little princess has stolen my heart,” Aaron replied with a grin.

“Thwarted by a two-year-old,” Marshall sighed. “I knew we should have eloped before someone could get their claws into you.”

“No claws. Claws bad,” the little girl mumbled around her thumb.

“That’s right, Lucy. No claws,” her mother agreed. “Are you going to come with me and let Alpha and his mate talk to some other people?”

“No! Stay wif Alpha.”

“She’s all good, Vicki. Let her stay with us until she drops off and then I’ll take her up to the nursery. You two go and enjoy yourselves for a while.”

“Are you sure, Alpha? This is your special day. You’re not supposed to be babysitting our daughter.”

“Yes, we’re sure,” Marshall assured her. “I don’t think it will take long for her to drop off.”

With effusive thanks, Lucy’s parents left them to join in the festivities.

“You look good with a kid,” Marshall told his mate as they began a slow walk toward the house.

“I’d like a couple,” Aaron admitted. “What about you? We haven’t really talked about children.”

“Yeah, I’d like to have kids one day. Maybe in a couple of years’ time?”

Aaron flashed him a grin, and Marshall tugged him to a halt so he could kiss him. It was only a brief press of their lips, both mindful of the young pup in Aaron’s arms.

“How much longer before all this is over and we can escape?” Marshall asked as he twined their fingers together.

“The ceremony will begin at sunset, so only a few more hours.”

“And how long after the official bits do we have to stick around?”

Aaron smirked at him. “You really weren’t paying attention to anything our mothers have said about today, were you?”
