“So, he never brought you out here?”

She shrugged. “He did, a couple times, but after ten minutes he was ready to go. I could stay up here all night and watch the town.” She looks up into the sky. “It’s the best place to see the stars at night. They seem so close, as if you can reach out and touch them.”

She turns and catches me staring at her. “What?” she says with a nervous giggle.

“You. You are so beautiful. When you talk about this place, your entire face lights up. Even when not every memory is good.”

She laughs. “I try to ignore that part.”

“Here, let me see if we can make happy memories.” Pulling her closer, I brush my lips across hers. I hate the seats in the SUV. I need her closer.

“Wait here,” I say, jumping out of the SUV and running to her door. I open it and take her hand. “Come on.”

She laughs. “Where are we going?”

I open the back door. “Back here. There’s more room, and I need to be close to you.”

She grins and her face flushes. She crawls into the back, and I follow her in. Closing the door, I grab her, pulling her so she is sitting on my lap. “There, much better.”

“I agree,” she says and then looks up through the sunroof. “Wow, the stars look even better this way. They are so beautiful.”

“So beautiful.”

She looks at me, giving me a soft push. “I was talking about the stars and you aren’t even looking.”

“I know. I’m looking at something much more beautiful.”

She shakes her head and laughs. “Oh, stop.”

And I do when I bring my lips down on hers.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Josh

Icannotbelievewe are sitting in the back seat of my SUV making out like teenagers.

My lips are on hers, hot, powerful, demanding. My breath catches in my throat, her hands are on my face, my neck, and I’m unzipping her jacket and sliding it off her shoulders.

The kiss becomes deeper, more frantic, as if I were a starving man and she was my last meal. I grasp at her waist, my lips on her neck, kissing, sucking, licking. She stiffens as my hand lands on her breast. I pause and look at her. “Everything okay?”

“I’m sorry,” she whispers.

I place a hand on her cheek. “Nothing to be sorry about.”

“It’s been a long time since I had a guy—”

“It’s okay. You don’t have to explain. We don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.”

Her cheeks flush, and she bites her bottom lip. “What if I want to?”

I study her face for a beat before I lean in, cupping her face in my hands before my lips descend on her.

The kiss is soft at first, but when she runs her fingers through my hair, I lose it. My tongue sweeps into her mouth and I’m claiming it, searching it, devouring it and she’s giving as good as she gets.

My hands slide down her arms and across her ribs before I’m cupping her breasts, feeling the heaviness in my hands. Her nipples harden under my touch and a soft moan escapes her lips as I tweak the firm tip. She arches her back, begging for more.

I know she can tell I’m enjoying this as much as she is. I’m as hard as a fucking rock and when she wiggles on my lap, a growl from deep within me erupts.
