His lips found her neck while his hand slipped between her legs, his thumb grazing her underwear, and she gasped as he ever so gently teased her. Pride darkened his eyes as he realised how wet she was.

“You’re making it very hard to concentrate,” she said, working on his belt but finding she had little control of her hands, or her body.

“Let me make it easier for you then.” He stripped off his trousers and boxers. It turned her on watching his expression as he exposed all of himself for her pleasure. She felt less self-conscious once he stood as vulnerable as she was.

“You’ve made me hard from the moment you stepped into my office. In your oh-so-tight skirts and heels,” he admitted.

“I thought you hated me,” she gasped as her lace underwear was discarded.

“Hating you only made me want to fuck you all the more.” He pulled her to her feet, and she stepped out of the dress. She tried to catch her breath from the rush of pleasure as his fingers slipped between her legs, and she bit her lip to silence a moan.

“Is that all you want to do? Fuck me?” she asked playfully. He kissed her neck, her breasts, her stomach, easing her onto the bed.

He pinned her arms above her head. She couldn’t move, couldn’t avoid his dark eyes.

“No.” The words caught in his throat. “I want to make you mine.”

“You have me,” she promised, and he released her hands, which she wrapped around his neck as he lavished her with kisses.

She needed him – more of him than she thought he could give. Every impulse in her wanted to move, to feel the friction of her body against his, but he waited until she was writhing beneath him as his fingers explored and teased the part of her that wanted him so desperately.

She clawed at his skin. “Please,” she begged. He groaned as she moved her hips against his until he gave in and buried himself inside her.

“Don’t move,” he pleaded. She tried to control herself, but the sensation of his body against hers made her lose control. She arched her back as he pushed deeper.

“Again,” she pleaded, and he obeyed. She shivered beneath him, and she knew she wouldn’t last long after being teased for so long. She grabbed his hips and urged him to keep moving.

“Don’t stop,” she panted, and he didn’t. Not until they both shattered in each other’s arms.

Lyla woke to find Mason’s side of the bed empty and the fire out.

She pulled on his shirt from the night before tiptoeing down the hallway. The light at the end of the corridor and slightly open office door told her he might be inside. She peered inside cautiously in case she was disturbing Mrs Klaus, but found herself staring at Mason’s shirtless back as he stood in front of the fireplace.

She sneaked in behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist. He went rigid as she kissed his back.

“You’re going to freeze like this,” she said, holding him tightly, but he said nothing. When he didn’t return the embrace, she released him. “Are you alright? Come back to bed.” She moved to stand beside him, and only then noticed the papers in his hand.Transfer of shares, read the first line.

Her heart threatened to stop.

“You not only used me, but you risked revealing an ancient secret over a damncontract?” Mason snapped, throwing the papers onto the floor.

“Wh-why were you reading my email?” she stammered, her hands clasped in front of her to stop herself from reaching for him.

“Reading your email? You mean Sam’s email? You mean the email where you planned to take the company for yourself? I came in to get the letters my father left me – I wanted to read them with you, tosharethem with you. I saw the laptop was on, and I thought it was something to do with the company.” His stark expression frightened her.

“I thought I deleted it! I won’t talk to you when you’re this angry,” she declared, but he blocked her path.

“Deleted it? That’s all you care about – hiding your trail? Well, it’s a good thing he sent another. When you didn’t reply, he thought you hadn’t received it.”

Lyla cursed herself for her stupidity. Why didn’t I tell Sam that I’d changed my mind?

“I was going to divide the company equally! How foolish of me to think we could be equal partners, when you’ve been scheming this whole time, using the death of my father against me.” He was holding his hand over his heart as if to protect it from her.

“When you brought me here, I thought you would stay – that you might not return. You would have to leave the company in order to stay. I was never going to show you these!”

“And when did you decide this? When did you have this epiphany of your feelings for me? Was it before or after you decided to blackmail me out of the company?” he hissed, backing her up against the desk. She knew he would have seen the time stamp on the email.

“Yesterday morning. I deleted it before the Gala. I decided while we were in the cabin, when you saved me from the wolves, that I couldn’t go through with it. I was wrong about you. Please don’t make more of this than it is!”
