"You know, if you were a cheerleader, you probably could've beat these two fuckers," Rowe jokes as he slides his arm around my shoulder.

"That would just be too cliche. The assistant coach's daughter who is also a cheerleader and bangs half the football team. Oh, and who's best friend is the cheer captain. Cringe!"

We laugh together and the smile on his face breaks and mends my heart at once. Rowe's laughter is a rare occurrence. He doesn't laugh for just anyone, but he does for me and that alone makes me feel like a princess.

The front door opens and my eyes flash to the door. Kai must be back, but it isn't Kai that busts through the door.

"Hey, girl, hey!"

"Kaylee!" I practically scream as I jump up from my seat and run over to my best friend. I throw my arms around her and laugh with glee.

"Oh, my god. You missed thegreatestparty," she slurs in my ear, stumbling against me.

What the hell? A party? Kaylee doesn't go to parties alone. It's her number one rule.Safety is keyas she always says.

"Who'd you go to a party with?" I ask as I pull away, catching her glassy, dazed eyes and flushed face.

She is absolutely smashed.

"Don't worry, babycakes. Coach Harris picked me up and took me to that absolutely bomb party. He does thatallthe time…until recently. Now, he's basically your sugar daddy. He was mine before that. That was kind of a bitch move on your part. What happened to girl code?"

Sugar daddy? Is she fucking kidding? Kai kidnapped me, raped me, tortured me. It's not like he's been paying me for sex. Not to mention, Kai was having the guys rape her for kicks.

I'm about to yell at her until the answer to the huge question in the back of my mind all day finally comes to me, all the color draining from the world as I stare at my best friend in her altered state.

Sheisthe next step.

Why else would Kai pick her up, take her to a party, get her drunk, and bring her back here? I bet she's not just drunk either.

"Kaylee, you need to go." I push the words out frantically right before Kai steps inside, slamming the door closed behind him.

"No, she doesn't," he says, his voice hoarse and unsteady. God, is he drunk, too?

"She's here to have some fun, right, babe?" His hazy eyes shift to Kaylee who giggles like an eight year old fangirl.

Babe? The green-eyed monster within me shows up for the first time ever, shocking me to my core, but I ignore it.

Whatever the hell that feeling is doesn't matter. He brought my best friend here to torture me, my best friend who he's been having raped all school year.

"Hells, yes!" Kaylee throws herself into Kai's arms as I watch with shock and dismay.

What the fuck is this … that I'm witnessing?

Kai wraps his arms around her and … he smashes his lips against hers, almost as passionately as he kissed me earlier.

My stomach drops at the nearly erotic display as Kai grabs her ass, lifts her up his body, and carries her up the stairs, laughing as he loses his balance halfway up the incline.

Sweat prickles at the nape of my neck as I watch them stumble into his room, the sound of his door slamming quickly following in succession with his departure.

What just happened? Did he just take her up to his room, the same room he fucked me in a few hours ago, to fuck her? Is this supposed to be a step of C-4 or did he do this just to get to me? Is he trying to make me admit that I want him back?

Fat fucking chance of that. Like Kaylee said, girl code. Not to mention, Kai just went back on what he said in The Maze.

Well, not exactly, but close enough. Monogamy is a two-way street. If he expects me to only be with him, he would have to only be with me, but that's not his plan. If it was, he wouldn't have taken my best friend to his room, the biggest slap in the face ever.

I can put myself in his shoes. He probably knows I've fucked all of the guys and he's being vindictive, giving me a taste of my own medicine in a way. Like I told him before, if you want someone's love, don't go out of your way to hurt them. Not that I'm hurt at all. Even if I am, I can lie to myself about it all I want.

"Are you … okay?" Knox asks in a soft voice.
