“I’d do anything for you. So, uh...” I pull my lips in to stop a grin. “Did you like the gift I got you?”
Her smile drops, and she cocks an eyebrow up at me. “You got me a dildo. Based on the fact that the other gift was a cute, little Rosy bear, I thought it was gonna be something sweet.”
“Itissweet. I’m just making sure you have something to take care of your needs...until you let me do it.”
She pretends to be flattered by the gesture. “How thoughtful.”
“I know. I’m a very thoughtful guy. It’s the one with the rabbit ears that allows for deep penetration and clit stimulation at the same time. That baby’s going to give you multiples. That’s my gift to you.” I place my hand on my chest to show that it came from the goodness of my heart. “Just enjoy it. No thanks necessary.”
“Wow, De Lorenzo,” she says, pretending to sound enamored. “You are a paragon of selflessness. One day someone is going to write a book about you.”
“They can keep the book. I’d much rather do it myself. So...you told me to call you and you’d give me your address. I’m waiting.”
“I’m?”
Scott opens the front door and steps out. “Dyl, are you coming with us to play basketball today? My dad’s busy, so we could use an extra player.”
I look back, and Peter and Keith follow him out. “Uh...sure.”
“Is that Isabella on the phone?” The widest grin splits his face, and he takes the phone from me before I even answer. “Yo, Isa!”
She groans tiredly. “Good morning, Scott.”
“Check out my new ride.” He turns the phone to show her the shiny black Mercedes SUV parked on the street. “Pretty sweet, right?”
“That’s yours?” Confused, I glance between him and Peter. “I’m sure that’s Peter’s car.”
“No, it’s mine.”
“You only get it if you win the bet,” Peter clarifies. “You haven’t won the bet yet.”
They bicker about the terms of this bet, and I turn my attention back to the gorgeous woman on my phone. “Your address?”
“You’re going out now. Go play your game and call me when you get back, okay?”
I look over at Keith. “What time do you guys usually finish?”
“‘Bout twelve, twelve-thirty, then we come back here and have lunch.”
“Okay.” I nod, looking at my phone again. “I’m gonna call you at two.”
“Sure.” She smiles. “Speak to you later.”
I hang up and shove my phone into the pocket of my sweatpants, then walk with the other guys to the SUV.
“Dyl, I was worried when you didn’t come home last night,” Peter says, sliding into the driver’s seat. “You could’ve at least called.”
Scott gets in on the passenger side, and Keith and I climb into the back.
“Aw, baby, I didn’t mean to worry you,” I tease.
Scott chuckles at my comment. “You definitely sounded like a nagging wife there, Pete.” Scott half-turns to look at me from the front seat. “But I guess someone has to do it, right, Dyl? ‘Cause you don’t have a wife anymore.”
“You’re such a dick.”
“Remember when I told you?”
“Shut up,” I snap because I already know what he’s going to say. “There’s no point in tellingmethat. I already know. Why didn’t you tell Bella I don’t have a wife anymore, asshole? I’m sure you were here on the twenty-third to watch Die Hard with her. You couldn’t have told her then? It would’ve saved me a lot of time and a lot of trouble. It may have even saved my car.”
