It could have been two hours, two months, or two minutes—my orgasm was relentless. Or maybe I had six orgasms, one after another after another. All I knew was my mind was bludgeoned to mush by devastating sensations, my body twitched and shuddered constantly, and I screamed myself hoarse.

When I came back to reality, I was no longer full of cock. Joseph cradled me in his arms, I was fully dressed again, and judging by the lack of squishiness between my legs, they cleaned me up. Some time ago, if I had to guess.

"Sometimes," I breathed, resting my cheek against his big chest and luxuriating in how fuckingcalmI felt, "I hate you fuckers."

"Admit it," X teased. "That's the best orgasm you've ever had."

I made noncommittal noise, wobbling my hand. It was, but no way was I telling these smug fuckers that.

I peered over Joseph's big arm when I realised I was rocking from side to side—he was walking. X was beside us, my bag thrown over his shoulder and his hair delightfully rumpled.

The trees and grass around us were black, scorched down to ashes.

"What the hell happened here?" I asked. I really wasn't in the mood to fight whatever big, bad demon had burned down the forest.

"You did, my sweet," Joseph answered with warmth and affection. He dipped his head to kiss my suddenly numb lips.

Idid this?

Me?Avie Lachesi?

So … I was the big, bad demon.

I groaned and let my head fall back against Joseph's chest.

Destructive, awe-inspiring magic was honestly thelastthing I needed right now.

"Soooo," I whispered to Joseph and X as we crouched behind tree trunks on the edge of a clearing around the compound-like training hall. "This isn't good."

A huge, towering grey wall surrounded it in solid stone, with blocky, square towers poking slightly above it. The only weakness was a gate made of thick iron, which offered a glimpse into the courtyard within the wall.

The courtyard where seven demons, all big and alien and spiky-looking, grabbed a blond human man—and pulled with demonic strength until the poor guy tore apart. His scream cut off abruptly as fleshy, gooey bits spilled out and the demons wasted no time digging into their meal, crunching and slurping loudly enough to make my stomach twist.

I'd seen enough.

I tiptoed away from the training hall, walking until we were a solid five minutes away and wouldn't be heard even by demon ears.

"What's the plan, my sweet?" Joseph asked, a furrow between his thick brows but no surprise on his handsome face. He wasn't surprised by the violence we'd witnessed.

I was starting to realise why Arkan had pushed for me not to come alone. And I was mightily glad I had X and Joseph here with me.

"The same plan I set off with," I replied, unzipping my backpack and digging around until I found the mason jar with the glowing red piece of Dev's soul. "We march in, all pissed off like we've been sent there for punishment. That's why they're all here, right? Because they're too fucked up for the rest of Hell?"

"They'd happily slaughter their way through the rest of the ranks," X agreed, shifting his weight as he watched me worriedly. "It's not safe to keep them together."

"Yeah," I agreed dryly. "Much safer to give them their own space to pillage, murder, and eat humans unbothered by tiny things like rules, laws, and their devil.Smart."

They had too much freedom, too muchindependence. I'd taken one look at the compound and known separating these monsters was averybad idea. No wonder Dev thought they were his enemies; if Eidolon discovered them, he had a ready-made army who already hated Dev and lived for violence.

"What are you doing?" X asked, peering over my shoulder as I knelt in the scorched grass.1

"Something very, very dumb.Orthe smartest thing I’ve ever done in my life."

I reached two fingers into the jaw, plucked up the wriggling bit of Dev's soul, and before I could think too hard about if this would even work, placed it in my palm and slammed my hand onto my chest.

For a second, I worried the soul wouldn’t absorb into me, but then power barrelled into my core and my body flew across the grass. It was like an invisible giant had thrown me; I justflew. All my hairs stood on end, and my eyes blew wide, the most intense kind of sugar rush filling my blood, making me gasp and pant.
