April comes busting through the door with her purse in her hand and a frightened look on her face, which soon transforms to a relieved one when she finds the man with all his limbs attached.

“Okay, let’s go,” she whispers grabbing my arm and dragging me out of the shop, which is hilarious in itself. She can’t be over five foot two.

It’s not until we are a couple of blocks away that she stops and turns to face me. “Thank you. I… he is not always like that. Usually, I can handle him, but…”

She is frightened.I need to do something. But what? I don’t interact with people unless I have to. It’s been like that ever since I was medically discharged from the military two years ago, and now with her…

This is why I wanted to wait. Wait until I could be someone, she could want…someone she could need.

“Can I take you home?”

I must say the right thing, because her face relaxes. “Yes, please.”

It’s a good thing we were headed towards the direction I parked my car, or else we’d have to go back. Parking this far made it easy not to be spotted when I stalked her, but she doesn’t need to know that.

“I’m parked this way,” I say, leading the way.

I don’t need to ask her the directions to her apartment, but I do so anyway. The drive is spent in silence, but my mind is a storm.

Is this where we part? What if I don’t leave an impression on her like the first time? It’s obvious she doesn’t remember the first time we met.

The day she changed my life forever.

The drive is too short for my liking. I want to stay around her, bask in her warmth a little longer, but it seems like it’s not meant to be.

I stop right in front of her apartment building, but to my surprise, she doesn’t immediately get out.

“Uhm, thanks for tonight.” Her eyes look up to meet mine, and even with the minimal light, I can still see the pink glow on her cheeks.

I simply nod at her words, and even then, she doesn’t leave. She hesitates, her fingers absent-mindedly drumming her exposed thigh. I swallow as my eyes connect to her exposed skin, shifting a little to adjust my throbbing cock.

“Do you want to come up and grab a coffee or something?”

Or something…

CHAPTER THREE

April

I have never invited a guy over to my place. At least not a guy I was attracted to.

And this guy…

I almost face palm myself when I realize I don’t even know his name. I am inviting a stranger into my home, and he could be a serial killer for all I know, but… he did save me.

I should know better than this, I think as I unlock the door to my apartment. I drop my purse on my couch and head for the kitchen.

“So, what can I get you? A coffee, water? I think I have some wine somewhere, but I don’t know if it’s to your taste so…”

“Water is good,” he says, cutting off my rumbling.

I’m nervous and not just because I brought a total stranger to my apartment, although that does contribute to it. The real issue is that the stranger ishim.

The first man whose voice has managed to turn me on. I knew I was fucked the moment he first walked into the bakery.

And now, standing in my small living room, it all feels surreal.

He follows me into the kitchen where I pour him a glass of water before rampaging the kitchen for the bottle of wine I’ve been saving for a special occasion.
