I swallow hard, trying to contain myself from throwing myself at him. He finally closes the space between us, his lips brushing mine enough to make me shudder, and he finally takes them with his, holding my waist tightly. I slip my arms around his neck, eagerly kissing back. He growls into the kiss but pulls away after only a second, much to my dismay.
“You need to eat, and then maybe I can eat, just a different kind of meal.” He winks, walking away. “Get dressed and I will order food,” he adds, laughing.
I moan knowing precisely what he means. I lift my clothes from the bed and head back to the bathroom to get dressed. I quickly dry off, pulling on shorts and a tee, and put my hair in a messy bun to keep it out of my face.
When I return Ezra is lying on the bed. “Food will be here soon. I ordered you a chicken salad, coffee, juice, and some yogurt.” He has a huge grin on his face, as if he is proud of himself because he knows what I like.
“Thanks,” I reply, returning his smile.
He pats the spot next to him, and I climb onto the bed, sitting up next to him, and he turns his attention to me. “Have you thought about my suggestion?” His eyes search mine, as if he’s trying to work out what I am thinking.
I sigh, shaking my head. “I haven’t had much time to think about it.” I don’t like lying to him, but I am not ready to answer.
“Oh, okay, take your time.” I can hear the disappointment in his voice, but thankful he doesn’t say anything else.
We’re both quiet for the next few minutes, and I decide to break the silence. “I am curious about something, though. Do you have any idea how I have a photo of you to appear on my phone when you call me now?” I raise my brow at him.
“Um, nope, I don’t know what you mean.” He chuckles, a cheeky look in his blue eyes.
“Liar! How did you get into my phone?” I snicker.
“You left it unlocked when you went to the bathroom, and I took advantage of it. You should be more careful with your phone, bright eyes. I could have added anything into it.” He finishes his lecture booping my nose.
“Yes, boss,” I say sarcastically, rolling my eyes.
“Less of the eyes rolling, angel. I am watching out for you,” he replies, his tone firm.
I still find it all a little strange how he always seems to be looking out for me even though I am not his to take care of. “I will be more careful,” I promise. It isn’t like I just leave it lying around all the time, but I won’t argue with him on it.
There’s a knock on the door. “That will be the food.” Ezra jumps up to answer it. I hear him talk to someone for a moment before Ezra brings a tray in.
“Yay! Coffee.” I am eager for caffeine to help me get through the day.
“Food first, Alana,” he says. I pout at him, but he doesn’t budge and hands me a plate of food.
I stick my tongue out at him, and he does it back mockingly. I flip him off and turn my attention to my food because I am famished.
“Good girl,” he teases.
I toss a tomato at him, hitting him right on the head. “Hey! What was that for?”
“For being so damn bossy.” I smile widely at him, making sure he knows he deserved it.
“I will get you back for it, miss, just you wait and see. Now eat your food so I can have my taste of you before I go back to the office,” he demands, squeezing my thigh.
“Mmm, yes, sir,” I moan, doing what he tells me.
I really need to make my mind up on what I want between Ezra and I because I can’t keep telling him I don’t know what I want while I continue to mess around with him.
I’m parkedin my car outside of the hotel waiting for Alana to come out. We’re going to her apartment to see the damage. I don’t want to go up to the room and stress her out or distract her from getting ready. Me knocking on the door may make her feel rushed. I can only imagine how she is feeling right now. Alana was supposed to be down ten minutes ago, and I’m beginning to get impatient. I start drumming my fingers on my steering wheel as I check the time. I’ll give her another few minutes and then call her.
I sigh, resting back against my seat until someone starts knocking on my car window. Who the fuck is it? It can’t be Alana because she would’ve rushed into the car. I turn around to see who it is, and Bella comes into view with a confused look on her face! Shit! Yes I have tinted windows, but she knows my car. I panic, worried in case she has found out that I am paying for Alana to stay here. I am not worried for myself. She can break up with me all she wants, but I know how cruel she can be, and the last thing I want is her going after Alana.
With a calm façade in place, I roll down my window. “Bella, what are you doing here?”
“I am going to meet some friends down the road. Why are you here?” she questions me with a raised brow. Bella doesn’t sound mad or have crazy eyes, so maybe she doesn’t know about Alana.
I need an excuse and fast. “I’m picking up someone before heading to my meeting. He is staying at the hotel since he isn’t from here,” I reply with a smile, not wanting her to pick up any signs I am lying.
