I went along for the ride for all the wrong reasons and now it’s too late to back out. Then again, in hindsight, I was too busy with college and working alongside my father to one day take over the business to care. By the time I looked up, I was engaged. And here we are.
“I’m sure there’s someone out there for him, but I’m two hundred percent positive that person is not me. I want someone who can take charge, command my body with one single heated look, can hold his own andnot look like a limp noodle in Armani. Rippling muscles would be a nice benefit since we're throwing fantasies out there.”
“You’re thinking about him again, aren’t you?”
ByhimGracie means Aron Mount. My next-door neighbor.
Eye candy if there ever was any. Sexy, older than me by about six years and full-on jock.
He lived fifty yards from my house growing up. Gracie is one of the few people who knows I’ve had an eye for him since I understood what male beauty was all about at the age of fourteen.
“It’s been months since I’ve seen him.”
Six plus feet of all the muscle I could ever want under my hands, tongue and ultimately body. All of that was across from my house for close to five long years before he headed off to play pro football and University while I started high school.
He has the blackest hair and the deepest brown eyes a girl craved to get lost in after a good, long fuck on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
In the end, like all fantasies, it wasn’t meant to be.
I sigh lustfully.
“He’s back in town, by the way. I saw him yesterday. We didn’t talk much but I did find out he’s a doctor now. Something about an injury and had to stop playing. No ring, a slight limp and the sexiest beard.”
I sit up a little. “Oh, really?”
Gracie nods and goes to say something but I hold a hand up.
“On second thought, better leave that topic alone.” I let out a sigh. “But I wish ya know...man do I wish, but no point in saying something that won’t ever come true.”
“Did I hear someone sayI wish?”
Gracie and I both turn to see a beautiful, curvy redhead step from between the shelves with a platter laden with three steaming cups of something that smells absolutely divine. Apple with a hint of cinnamon and something else. Nutmeg maybe.
Deep blue eyes land on mine. “Hey Pandora.” I quickly introduce my best friend to the owner as she hands each of us a mug before resting on the sidearm of the couch.
“Thank you.” We raise our mugs and take a swallow. Heaven in a mug, just like I suspected.
“You’re welcome, sugah.” The sweet southern twang is a little out of place in the middle of Manhattan, but refreshing.
“A little somethin’ special to celebrate Christmas Eve?”
Pandora flashes a wicked smile while dangling a flask from her hand. She looks about our age, maybe a little older but not by much. Elegant shadowing matched with the perfect red shade of lipstick makes her porcelain-like skin radiate with a glow I only wish I could achieve.
I hold up my mug. “Why not. Since I escaped my family to come here, I might as well enjoy it to the max.”
Pandora gives us each a healthy dollop of whatever it is in the shiny flask. Honestly, at the moment I welcome anything to take the edge off my nerves.
Pandora taps the side of her mug with a perfectly polished nail and a suspicious twinkle in her eye. “You know, if wishes are to ever come true, tonight is the night.”
Beside me, Gracie’s eyes widen with humor. “Really? I thought that only worked on Christmas day, not Christmas eve? You know, Christmas wishes.”
I have my mug halfway to my lips when Pandora dares us to try.
“Why not? C'mon. What’s to lose? If you could have one thing this Christmas what would it be, sweet girls?”
I chime up. “Ooh! Definitely me first! This is easy. I wish I could pick who I marry and still be able to take over my family’s company without my mother disowning me.”
Pandora winks at me. “Beautiful! And you, sugah? What would you want?”
