I grab the paperwork and the pen he offers. “I’m assuming I don’t need to read through all this.”

“Not at all,” he says with a laugh. “That’s what you pay me for. It’s good to go, just needs a signature.”

I sign my name and hand it back. “I’d like to get it up and running as soon as possible.”

“Have you decided on a name?”

I laugh and say, “The Sweet Peach.”

Charlie rolls her eyes and Vadim laughs.

“Artyom was pretty insistent on it, and since he’ll be overseeing the damn thing, I figured I’d let him have his way.”

“I’m sure it’ll be a huge success. For a city this size, there’s really only two other strip clubs, and they still manage to do very well despite the fact that they’re pretty rundown and way on the outskirts. The prime location of your club is enough to guarantee its success.”

He switches to Russian and asks, “Any news on the mayor?”

“No, but I’ve got a guy who thinks he may have some information soon. Hopefully it’ll be enough. This guy is really starting to be a big pain in my ass.”

“He’ll cave. They all do eventually.”

“That they do,” I agree.

“I like her,” he adds, giving me a know-it-all look. “I told you it’d make you happier.”

“Nobody likes a showoff, Vadim,” I say, making him laugh.

“How’d you meet her?”

“The little shit broke into my house.”

That really makes him laugh.

“Sounds like you’ve met your match.”

“Yeah, and she knows it too. Don’t let her sweet face fool you. She got that hurt ankle from shimmying her ass out my second-story window.”

Vadim laughs and Charlie looks at me. “Are you talking about me?”

“You bet your sweet ass I am. I just told him how you hurt your ankle.”

“I really need to learn Russian,” she grumbles.

“If you’re nice, maybe I’ll teach you.” I give her a wink that makes her blush before turning back to Vadim. “Let me know if you need me to sign anything else. Andrei will be in touch about transferring the payment.”

“Sounds good.” He smiles at the two of us. “It was very nice meeting you, Charlie.”

“It was nice meeting you, too.”

I stand and take her with me, and like a little fucking spider monkey, she twists herself around so she’s on my back again.

“Next time we’re bringing the damn crutches,” she pouts in my ear.

I give her thigh a soft squeeze. “We’ll see.”

She groans at my stubbornness. We say goodbye to Vadim and leave his office. This time when we pass by his secretary, it’s nothing but big smiles for the two of us and a pleasant, “Have a great day,” as we walk out.

“I think she got the hint,” Charlie says, kissing my ear.
