Chapter Seventeen

I woke up to the sound of Caine in the shower. I looked at the disheveled bed and smiled with the memory of the night before. It seemed like every time Caine and I had sex, it was better than the last. I would think I had the best sex of my life, only to feel that way the next time. Absolutely amazing would be an understatement. He was so attentive, so loving and he was demanding in bed in a way only Caine could do. God, I loved this man.

The water stopped and shortly after the bathroom door opened. Caine had a towel wrapped around his waist. His muscular chest looked mouthwatering with the drops of water dripping down to his perfect abs. He looked so happy with a huge Cheshire grin. He leaned against the door frame and gazed at me.

“You’re gorgeous. You make me so happy seeing you lying in my bed,” he admired. He made his way to the edge of the bed and bent down to place a kiss on my forehead. “Get up and get showered, Neely girl. I have a surprise today,” he softly commanded.

“A surprise? What?” I asked with excitement.

“Get up, and get ready and you’ll see,” Caine answered. He softly ran his fingers through my hair before simply stating, “I love you.”

I tried to get ready as quickly as I could. I absolutely loved surprises. The weather was lovely outside, so I was able to put on a nice summer dress. Caine loved when I wore dresses, stating it was because he had easier access. I brushed my hair leaving it long like Caine liked as well. I gazed at my reflection in the mirror and felt pretty. Caine had a way of making me feel beautiful. Ever since I’d been with Caine, my self esteem had grown leaps and bounds. He did wonders for my ego. He allowed me to feel confident about my womanly curves and comfortable with my natural beauty. The hips I so often detested now looked voluptuous. Every part of my body now seemed sensual and desirable.

I walked into the kitchen to find Caine finishing up the last details of breakfast. He had made a fruit salad and blueberry muffins. The table was already set and there were flowers in a vase in the center. The sliding glass door was open, letting in the warm fresh air, and I could hear the birds chirping outside. Everything seemed so romantic, so special, like a love story.

“My, my, Caine, I never knew you could be so romantic. A girl could get used to this type of treatment,” I lovingly teased as I walked over to kiss him on the cheek.

“You deserve nothing but the best.” He took a step back so he could take a full look at me. “You are the most beautiful woman on this planet. Look at you. I’ve never been so blown away by someone as I am with you,” Caine exclaimed.

I blushed and made my way to the table. Caine followed with the rest of breakfast and sat across from me. He raised a champagne glass filled with a mimosa and silently toasted by clinking with my glass.

I took a bite of the muffin. “Mmmm this is good! You’re quite the baker.”

Caine laughed before he admitted, “It’s from a box.”

“Well, I like it anyway. Thank you for going through so much effort. I love you, Caine. I know it seems like I tell you that I love you all the time, but I can’t find the right words. I have so much emotion bottled up inside, that the words I love you seem like the closest and only way to describe it.” I scrunched my face. “I know I’m not making sense. But I feel so strongly for you that I just want to say it all the time. I wish there were a stronger word than love. My feelings are stronger than that.” I looked at him, blushing. “Does that make any sense at all?”

“Perfect sense.” He smiled, and I truly believed he understood what I meant. “I love you, too.”

We sat and ate in silence for awhile, just enjoying being in each other’s presence and taking in the wonderful morning. The breakfast, the morning, and the man were perfect.

Caine was the first to talk. “Crazy party, huh? I could have killed Sara for what she did to you last night.” His eyes seemed to darken with the memories.

“I never liked her, but I never thought she was a psycho. I should have kicked her ass…I mean her butt.” I smiled innocently at Caine’s warning look.

“No, you shouldn’t have. Since she runs in the same circle as we do, it’s likely you’ll see her again. I don’t want you fighting with her. I couldn’t stand to see you get hurt,” Caine instructed.

“Who says she would win. Just so you know—”

“Neely…” Caine warned.

“All right, I’ll steer clear of Ms. Looney,” I conceded.

“Thank you. Besides, I don’t think she’ll be approaching you again after Travis is done with her. I know Travis, and he doesn’t tolerate anything like what happened last night. You think I’m strict? I’m not nearly as tough as Travis.”

“I was shocked he spanked her in front of everyone,” I admitted.

“Well, he didn’t spank her in front of everyone, he was getting her attention. No doubt a very severe spanking followed, but he had to stop her craziness,” Caine informed me.

“But it was still in front of everyone. I would have been humiliated.”

Caine reached across the table and grabbed my hand. “I wouldn’t spank you in public if you’re worried about that.”

“You wouldn’t?” I questioned.

“No, I wouldn’t. Even though most of our friends know about our lifestyle, I still think it’s private. I would give you a warning look, or I might whisper in your ear as I explained before. Worst case scenario is I take you some place more private, which is what Travis had attempted to do. But I would never cause embarrassment to you. I want you to always trust that,” Caine explained as he rubbed his thumb on the top of my hand.

I nodded my understanding. “Do you think Travis was wrong for doing so to Sara?”
