“I need to tell you something before the doctor comes in.” I looked down at my lap and then back up to meet his gaze. “I’m pregnant. And of course it’s yours. I found out a few days ago when I took Michael to his checkup. I have been wanting to tell you but I didn’t know how to. Our relationship is up in the air right now and with everything going on with your parents and Adriana… I know it is the worst possible timing but yeah. I have your baby inside me.”

I said everything I needed to say in one breath. I didn’t know if he understood me or if some things got lost in translation but judging from the shock on his face I was sure he had heard me.

“You’re pregnant?” He asked the question in a tone I couldn’t quite interpret.

“I am. And I want to keep the baby Gabriel. I know this is not what we had planned and we are still yet to establish what is going on between us but I—”

He kissed my lips, halting any words trying to escape from my mouth.

“I told you before Brianna. You are mine and I am yours, it's as simple as that. We are a package deal now. Me and Michael can’t do life without you anymore.”

“But what about your mother and Adriana?”

“I took care of them like I told you I would. You won’t have to worry about them ever again.” He grabbed my hands and squeezed them tightly. “I know that being with me comes with a lot of pressure. The Farrington name is as much a curse as it is a blessing but I can assure you baby that I will hold your hand through it all. Don’t give up on Michael and I. Please.”

“Wait… what are you asking me here Gabriel?” I needed him to say it so there was no misunderstanding between us.

“I am asking you for forever, Brianna. I am asking you to say yes to every adventure that comes after this. I'm asking you to be mine.”

My breath hitched.

Every shield he had up was down and I could see every single piece of him. There was no hiding the love behind his eyes. It was bright and exuberant. If there were any doubts left within me they all faded in that moment. He loved me. And he wanted this. He wanted us.

I don’t know how long I had been silent for but Gabriel let out a nervous little laugh and tugged at my hand.

Tears spilled out of my eyes. I let out a shaky little laugh and grabbed his face in between my hands. I pulled his face toward mine and pressed my lips onto his.

I felt the familiar butterflies fill my stomach as our lips moved together in perfect sync. I poured everything I had into that kiss. Every single ounce of love and devotion that my body could muster.

When we pulled away his eyes danced with a joy I had never seen in them before.

He pecked my lips sweetly before moving away. “I need you to say it, Anna.”

“I love you Gabriel Farrington.”

His beautiful big smile plastered across his face lit up the room.

He placed his hand on my flat stomach and peered into my eyes. “We’re going to have a baby.”

I nodded with tears in my eyes. “We’re going to have a baby. Michael is going to be a big brother.”

“And he is going to have a mom who loves him the way he deserves to be loved.”

I paused. “Gabriel…I can’t…”

“No Brianna. You are his mother. I have watched you love that boy with your whole heart. You may not be his biological mother but you are his mom. There is a difference there, trust me.”

“He called me mama, you know?”

“I heard. The day I came home early and I found the pictures. I heard him call you mama and I remember thinking to myself just how right it felt for him to call you that. That’s when I knew with the utmost certainty that you were meant to be with us Brianna.”

This was not how I had imagined saying I love you to Gabriel. But we never really did things the conventional way.
