“You can’t head home in this storm,” Kieran insisted.

Nicolai slid his hand between her legs and over her sex. “We will see you home—at some point. But right now, we have other ideas.”

Sylvana grabbed his wrist and squeezed her legs together. “My sister is probably worried sick right now.”

“We already took care of it. Now what say we get to it?” Kieran said as he placed his head on the side of hers and slid his tongue across her neck.

“What do you mean?”

“We sent word to your sister last night.”

“I appreciate it, but I have to go.” Even though she spoke the words, the moment Nicolai slid his fingers into her core, she knew she was not leaving anytime soon.

After the rain had stopped, Cadell saddled the horses in order to see Mira home. He then lifted her up and sat her on a mare. “Thank you,” she replied.

Laurent stepped back. “I’ll see you soon, Mira.”

“Good bye, Laurent. Can I see you tomorrow?”

“Yes.” He smiled.

Cadell pulled the reins, and they headed down the road. “Did you enjoy yourself last night?”

She gave Cadell a radiant smile. “Yes, milord.”

“Mira, you won’t be seeing Laurent for awhile.”

“Why?”

“Laurent will be with me. I have clan business to attend to. He is old enough now to come along.”

“How long will he be gone?”

“A few weeks.”

“Why didn’t he tell me?”

“I haven’t told him yet.”

Mira hung her head and scowled.I won’t see him for weeks, maybe more? What am I going to do? I’ll be home alone with my stupid sisters, who will expect me to work all day.“Milord?”

“Yes, Mira?”

“Would it be okay if I came over to visit Enatta?”

“No, child. She also has business to attend to. I’m sure you can find something to do to pass the time.”

“My sisters will force me to work all day.”

“Mira, it is not disparaging to work. One day you will be the lady of a manor and you will need to know how to run it.”

“I suppose.”

“Will you do me a favor?” Cadell asked.

“What is it?”

“Can you see fit to help your sisters while Laurent is gone? I’m sure they could use your help and you seem quite capable.”
