I’m not just a chess piece on my father’s board.
I’m just me.
A college student living the best years of her life and having fun.
At least until I walk through the door and leave this room.
CHAPTER10
Luca
I forgetall about Marya and Marcello, and I focus my full attention on Aurora’s body when we meet yet again. Her soft moans, the shudders of pleasure that shake her body, the way she arches her hips, her tight pussy...
Everything about her fascinates me. I want to see how many orgasms I can give her in one night. I want to see her face lost in pleasure.
And I do it all. Marcello and Marya can wait. There isn’t any news anyway. I’d be wasting my time searching for them.
As Aurora is nestled against me, her naked, warm body pressed against mine, all I can think about is her. It’s not just the sex and her hot body that has me obsessed with her. She’s given me a little glimpse into her world. Her dreams.
If I were really just a businessman, I’d be very tempted to give her everything she wanted. I’d marry her and buy her an office at the best building. We’d have a big house filled with children.
But why the fuck am I even thinking about that? It’s impossible, and I know it. It can never happen. Aurora is the light, and I’m the darkness. One will always destroy the other. We can’t coexist.
Hell, her goal is to help people, and I’m here to ruin their lives, most of the time. She’s a giver, and I’m a taker. There’s nothing good about me, but there’s plenty of good about her.
She’s a genuinely good person, and I don’t have to know everything about her to be able to tell. The spark in her eyes was enough of a confirmation that she wasn’t just pretending or telling me things to make herself look good.
A part of me wishes things could be different, but I quickly shut it down. I prefer to live in reality, not fantasy.
And Aurora is exactly that—a fantasy that will disappear. The light that will be gone once the night falls.
“You never told me what your dream was,” Aurora says, looking up at me with her big, curious eyes.
“My dream?” Is she a mind reader now?
“Yeah. What do you want in life? Or do you already have it all?”
I crease my brow. I’m far from having it all. But I’ve never really thought about any long-term goals. First, my goal was just to survive the next day and become the boss. Then, killing Marcello became my goal, and it’s still a work in progress.
After that, I have no idea what I’ll do. It depends on what happens with Marya. Maybe she’ll be my next target, or I’ll have to deal with some new enemy. Some shit always comes up.
But that’s not something I can tell Aurora.
“I guess I have it all,” I lie. “But some progress is always good in business.”
“I’m not talking about your career. I mean, that’s important too, but what do you want for yourself? Do you want a big family?” She worries on her lower lip as if she’s afraid she’s just asked the wrong thing.
“Yeah, I do.” It’s not going to happen, but whatever.
It’s the truth. But we don’t always get the things that we want in life. I’m used to it.
Aurora smiles. “Do you have any siblings?”
“No.”
“Me neither.” She tilts her head. “What about your parents? Mine are driving me crazy most of the time.”
I sigh. “My father’s dead. My mother didn’t want me, so I’ve never met her.”
