“Again… duh.”

“You want your name tattooed into my skin.”

“That’s not a necessity, but yes, I want that.”

Still smiling, Rock pulled out of her and climbed off the bed. As he headed for the bathroom to take care of the condom, he called out over his shoulder, “Well, get dressed, Angel. We have a meeting to call.”

“Now?”

He tossed the condom and proceeded to clean himself up. “Well, it will probably take a couple hours to get the guys together, but yeah, now.”

Looking in the mirror as he washed his hands, he saw Mary standing in the open doorway, wrapped in his white sheets.

“It’s that easy? Decision made?”

Rock chuckled. “Angel, I knew a year ago that you were my Ol’ Lady. So did my brothers. Now, we just gotta make it official. You got a reason to put it off? Because I sure as hell don’t.”

“What if the kids aren’t okay with us?”

He knew what she meant. She meant what ifMia and Loganweren’t okay with their relationship. “You’ve been having phone conversations with Mia and Logan for months. Despite what we call each other to them, they aren’t stupid. They know you aren’t just a friend of mine.” He grabbed the hand towel from the towel rack next to the sink and began drying his hands. “And if the phone calls didn’t confirm that for them, the fact that you rushed here to be with us in the darkest moment of our lives sure as hell did. They like you. They’ll like us together. And they’ll enjoy having more siblings to play with and fight with.” He tossed the hand towel in the sink and turned to face her. “I’m not saying it will be easy or problem-free. I’m just saying we can do it, and our kids will grow to love our family.”

The tears in Mary’s eyes told him it was what she needed to hear.

“Well, if you don’t start hanging up the hand towel when you’re done with it, you might regret asking me to move in with you,” she grumbled in an obvious attempt to shift the focus off of her overwhelming emotions.

Rock laughed as he picked up the towel and hung it up on the towel rack. “Better?”

“Much.” She huffed out a breath and sniffled. “Now, I want you to take me back to bed, but we have a meeting to call.”

Chapter six

Pixie

Whentheyarrivedatthe hotel, Mama Hen directed them to go into the first conference room down the hall. It was one of the rooms people could reserve for a small party or business meeting.

In the center of the room, there was a large conference table surrounded by chairs. The walls and carpet were done in various shades of blue. It was a gorgeous room, if a bit formal for Pixie’s taste.

On the table were black tote bags that looked to be full to the rim. Pixie was curious, so she walked closer to get a better look. When she saw the wordsThe Shifty Sistersin a badass font on the side of the bags, she busted out with laughter. “The Shifty Sisters?”

Mama Hen shrugged and approached the table. “You bitches needed a name. Like the Howlers and the Claws, you work together and always have each other’s back in the same way. You should have a name.”

Kisy chuckled. “I like it.”

“Me too,” Gorgeous said with a smile.

Mama Hen started handing out bags to each of the women. All the women ooo’d and ahh’d over the tote. Pixie took hers and opened it. She saw a black cloth item on top. When she pulled it out, she saw that it was a black turtleneck. Under the turtleneck was a camo face paint kit, a black beanie cap, a pair of black gloves, a pair of black cargo pants, and a flashlight.

“Mama Hen, you didn’t have to do this,” Sugar said as she laid out all the stuff on the table.

“If we’re going to do this, we’re going to do this right,” Mama Hen insisted and handed a tote bag to Ranger. The side of his said Honorary Shifty Sister.

Ranger’s laughter filled the room, but he took the bag and headed back for the door. “I’ll find somewhere to change. Be right back.”

When he left the room, Pixie began to change along with everyone else. She was glad to see that Mama Hen took her baby bump into account when she was putting together their outfits. The turtleneck was stretchy and loose enough to easily go over her bump, and the cargo pants had a drawstring.

All the women were fully dressed in their black outfits and beanie caps when Ranger returned to the room. He was dressed just like them, but he slipped his cut over the turtleneck. He helped them put the camo make-up on their faces. The flashlights were small and had a carabiner clip, so they could attach them to their pants.

Pixie was about to load the clothes she had just removed into the tote when she noticed it wasn’t empty. She peered inside and found a baggie containing two dill pickles in separate packaging along with a beef jerky stick and a tinfoil wrapped, still warm, burrito.
