Diamond had always liked that park. It was in the center of a wide-open space, surrounded by a four-feet tall chain-link fence, with walk-throughs at various points to give access to the parking lot or the school.

The park structures weren’t anything fantastic, but they were the standard items you’d find at any self-respecting park — a swing set, a slide or two, a jungle gym, and most importantly, benches in the shade for parents to chill on.

After turning off the Jeep and climbing out, Diamond headed to the benches while she smiled at her children running amok. They were great kids, but anytime four young children were put together without a chance to expel some energy, it was a recipe for disaster.

They had been there for about thirty minutes when Mia asked to go to the bathroom, which was in the building on the opposite side of the park from where she parked. Taking Mia’s hand, Diamond told the others to keep an eye on each other and to stay by the play structures, while she took Mia to the bathroom.

Letting her go by herself wasn’t an option. Anyone could be in that bathroom. Diamond wasn’t a helicopter parent, but she erred on the side of caution when it came to the kids, especially after what was happening in Warden’s Pass recently.

After Mia was done and had washed her hands, Diamond again took her hand, and they headed back to the boys. As they approached the play structures, Diamond searched for the other kids within the structures and didn’t see them. It wasn’t until she scanned the outer area that she found them.

Her heart jumped into her throat as she saw Hunter throwing punches and kicks at a grown man who had a hand on an upper arm of each of her biological children and was trying to pull them toward a running car in the parking lot.

“Miles! Jenna!” Diamond let go of Mia’s hand and took off, running faster than she ever had in her life. Her eyes never left her babies. She was halfway to them when she realized who the man was — her ex-husband, Niles. Panic filled her at the sight. He was trying to take away her babies.

When she reached them, she stepped in front of Niles and tried her best to force him to let go of her kids. Slapping, punching, clawing — Nothing was out of the question. Eventually, he let go of Miles in order to grab Diamond by the hair.

“Fucking slut,” he growled at her as he yanked her around by her hair.

During one of the spins from his ministrations, she saw Hunter and Miles forcing Niles’s fingers off Jenna’s arm. When she was free, the three kids ran back to the park, where Mia was standing, watching, with tears running down her face.

“I’ll call Dad,” Hunter yelled.

“Stupid fucking whore,” Niles continued to shout at her as he repeatedly swung and hit her in the face, sending shocks of pain through her head.

Diamond was having trouble gaining her balance. Every time she thought she found it, he would yank her hair again and pull her around. She was pretty sure she lost some hair in the process, but she resisted the next pull and maintained her balance, allowing her a split second to kick out and hit him right between his legs.

As he let out a loud wail with pain, his hold on her hair loosened. She yanked herself free and took off for the kids. “Run!” Waving her arms in an attempt to get the kids moving toward the bathrooms, she kept shouting to them, “Run!”

She had just caught up to the fleeing children when the sound of motorcycles filled the air. Glancing back, she noticed the car and Niles were gone, but the parking lot had a whole pack of Howlers on their bikes.

Rock was off of his bike and sprinting their way.

“Kids! It’s okay. You can stop.” She came to a halt and bent over, putting her hands to her knees. Her head was throbbing, and her face felt like it was twice the size it normally was, and she was pretty sure she had a bald spot on the back of her head.

“Diamond! Kids!” Rock slid to a halt at the group of them. After checking over the kids and kissing the top of each of their heads, he turned to her. The pain that filled his expression when he looked at her told her everything she needed to know about her appearance.

“That bad?”

“Come on, kids. Let’s go get in the Jeep, while Dad takes care of Mom,” Brute suggested.

As Brute and his brothers took the kids back to the parking lot, Rock carefully cupped her face in his hands and gazed down at her, concern written all over his face. “Angel,” he breathed and ran his thumbs softly over her cheeks. “Who did this? Hunter said he never saw the guy before.”

“Niles,” she choked out as tears filled her eyes. She wasn’t crying because of the pain, though. She was crying because she knew she’d never have to deal with situations like that by herself ever again. Rock had her. Rock wouldalwayshave her.

“I will kill that motherfucking piece of shit,” Rock vowed through clenched teeth. “Are you hurt anywhere else? Do you need a doctor?”

She shook her head and allowed him to pull her into his arms. “I just want to go home.”

“Come on, Angel.” She felt his lips softly touch the top of her head and let out a sigh. She was safe.

At The Same Time… Ruby

Ruby was beat. Rebel was insatiable the night before and kept her up for hours with her thighs around his head for a good portion of it. After he finally slid inside of her, it took another thirty minutes before he was satisfied.

He left her boneless and happy as she drifted off to sleep while he used the restroom to clean up. She vaguely remembered him returning to wipe her clean, but she had been well on her way to dreams by that point.

When she woke up, he gave herthat look, and it took everything in her to slam the bathroom door in his face, because she had to get ready for work. His chuckles came through the door as she climbed in the shower.
