Rock

After kissing Diamond’s lips for longer than he should have, Rock forced himself to walk out the door. He had to meet up with a contact about a woman in town who was looking for a way out of her marriage with a controlling dick of a husband.

He thought about putting the meeting off, but Diamond insisted that he go. Pressing her forehead to his as she straddled his lap and looked into his eyes, she whispered, “If you didn’t go, you wouldn’t be the wonderful man I fell in love with. You know it will bug you if you don’t. So, go.”

She was right, so Rock had said goodbye to his family and headed out. When he rounded the box truck, he knew something was off, but he didn’t know what it was until he approached his bike. He saw the knife sticking out of the tire before he noticed the odd angle at which his bike was sitting.

Yanking the knife out, he noticed it was the pocketknife he had given Hunter for his birthday. Hunter had lost it during the move and was worried Rock would be disappointed. Rock wasn’t, and he was happy he could give the knife back to Hunter, but he wondered how it ended up in his tire.

Who in the fuck had been on his property and when? Rock didn’t like that shit at all.

Putting the knife in his pocket, he called Axle and put his phone to his ear.

“Yeah?”

“We’ve got a motherfucking problem. Someone was on my property and used my kid’s pocketknife to flatten the rear tire on my bike.”

“Fuck,” Axle barked. “I’ll send Score with the truck to bring it in. And Keys will be over to put up cameras. I know you don’t want it with the kids getting older and getting closer to shifting age, but for now—“

“No, do it. I have a meeting. Need security for a couple hours,” Rock growled, trying to keep his voice down so his family didn’t hear.

“You got it, brother. I’ll see who is available and keep Diamond and the kids safe. Give me ten.”

“Thanks.” Rock ended the call and sent a text to his contact that he would be late.

He didn’t know who in the fuck did it, but he wasn’t about to let anyone put his family in danger. He may be a human, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t fucking protect his family. Rock would give his life to keep Diamond and the kids safe, if that’s what it would take.

A few minutes later, Brute and Brute’s younger brother, Matthew, a Howler prospect, showed up. Seeing the two of them, Rock knew his family was in good hands. Borrowing Brute’s bike, he took off for his meeting.

Rebel

Ruby had just fallen asleep in his arms, when Rebel heard his phone vibrate on the nightstand in her bedroom. Carefully, so as not to wake her up, Rebel reached over and picked up the phone. Checking the notifications, he saw a group text from Axle to the club.

>tire slashed on Rock’s bike in his driveway. Heads up. They’re ramping up the BSScore is grabbing his bike. Brute and bro are there.<

Feeling better, knowing Rock was taken care of, Rebel returned his phone to the nightstand.

“Rebel,” Ruby mumbled and rolled over to face him.

“It’s okay.” Rebel settled back on the pillow and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. “Go back to sleep.”

“What happened? That wasn’t a happy sigh,” she said into his chest.

He kissed the top of her head. “Someone slashed a tire on Rock’s bike, but he’s got help.”

“Who would do that? Who would do all the things that have been happening? I don’t understand people.”

He tightened his hold on her. “Yeah, me neither.”

“We’ll get through this.” She placed a soft kiss on his chest. “Our whole family will.”

He smiled into her hair. “That’s right. We will.”

Holding his woman tight, he closed his eyes and sent up some thank yous to the gods for sending Ruby into his life.
