Crush turned her head and made eye contact with Bobby. “If they let you go, promise me you will not go to the Howlers or anyone the Howlers know and tell them anything. If you do, I will personally make sure you pay for that. Do you understand?”
Bobby visibly swallowed and nodded his head. “Y-yes. I-I won’t say a-anything or g-go to them or a-anyone.”
Crush looked back at Rage. “You’ve killed one of their women, kidnapped two more, caused havoc for them and for the Claws by taking their president. What in the hell do you need a bar owner for? Just let him be. Hell! He didn’t even know shifters existed until you opened your mouth about my shifting.”
Rage shrugged. “Fine. Like I care.” He motioned toward the front door with his hand. “Go.”
Bobby hesitated for a moment and looked at Crush with apology in his eyes.
“Don’t worry about us. Go.”
As tears filled Bobby’s eyes, he climbed to his feet and bolted out the front door before Rage could change his mind.
Crush looked over at Pixie, who was standing with one of the other bikers just inside the room. She looked okay, but her tied hands were covering her baby bump, protecting the bundle inside. As she had numerous times in the last couple hours, Crush was grateful Pixie’s hands were restrained in the front instead of the back. It was bad enough that she was kidnapped while pregnant.
The biker next to Pixie took her bicep and forced her into a chair. Then one of the bikers locked the front door and stood in front of it to block the exit. Two more blocked the hallway that led to the backdoor.
Crush still didn’t know what the HDMC planned to do to them, but at least she avoided having Bobby’s death on her conscience.
Lucifer
For over an hour, he had panicked and paced the clubhouse. It wasn’t until Axle got the call from Mama Hen that Kisy was in fact alive and well, not blown to bits like Dragon had thought, that he started to hold out hope Crush would be okay. Then he reminded himself his mate was a bad bitch, and when she returned, they were going to talk. He was done with the games and the bullshit, but first, they needed to rescue his woman.
From information from the champions and the undercover UpRiders members, they received intel about where Crush and Pixie were being held, but rather than doing something about it, the clubs and the champions were sitting around the clubhouse talking.Talking.
The Howlers had rushed to Mama Hen’s Inn to pick up Kisy and bring her back to the compound, where they began to ask her questions about what happened.
As he listened to Kisy tell them what she knew, his impatience rose until it was nearly impossible for him to keep from blowing his motherfucking top.
Lucifer was sick of it. While the Howlers, the Claws, and the champions sat around trying to figure out what to do to save Pixie and Crush, Lucifer was losing his damn mind and none of them seemed to notice. Hell, he didn’t know how Pike could fucking stand it. Instead of rescuing the women, they were arguing about whether Kisy could go with them when there were more important things to worry about.
After approaching the bar, he took another drink of his water, set his glass down on the bar top, and headed for the door. They could sit and talk all they wanted. He wasn’t wasting any more time while his woman was being held captive by some piece of shit bastards. Hell fucking no. He was going to get her.
Kisy’s eyes gravitated toward him, and their eyes locked for a moment, then Lucifer winked at her before he stepped through the front door.
It didn’t matter that Crush hadn’t admitted that she was his woman yet. They both knew she was, and that’s all Lucifer needed.
After pulling his old HDMC cut out of his saddlebag, he put it on. When he had put it in there, he wasn’t sure why he was holding on to the damn thing, but now he was glad he had. Ready to go, he hopped on his bike and headed out to where the two UpRiders told them the women would be.
One look at those two young UpRiders who had been willing to go undercover and report back to the Howlers, and Lucifer knew they could be trusted. They were like him. They put their faith into a group of men and had been let down. They wanted to belong to a good group of like-minded men with decent morals. Half of their club was exactly that, unlike the club that Lucifer had joined.
Lucifer had been sold a pack of lies when he prospected for the Hell’s Dogs MC Indiana. He didn’t find out the full story of why they were doing all the shit they were doing until he met the Howlers — until the Howlers and the Claws saved his life. And he would continue to repay that kindness to the Howlers and the Claws for the rest of it.
That was the thought on his mind as he pulled into the parking lot of Bobby’s Bar. He slow-rolled to the back, looking around as he went, taking in everything and looking for a sign of trouble. When he got to the back of the building, he parked near the rear door and killed the engine.
Taking a deep breath, he felt for his gun in the holster under his tee in the back. Feeling the outline of his handgun, he was reassured. It was time to rescue his woman.
He yanked open the back door and came face to face with another HDMC member, who aimed a gun at his chest. Lucifer couldn’t tell which chapter the man was from, but it didn’t matter, anyway. He took a chance and held out his hand. The man dropped his gun hand and slipped his gun back into his holster, then he shook Lucifer’s hand.
“I was sent to relieve you. They want you at base,” Lucifer told him.
“Me?” The eagerness with which the man stepped past him disgusted Lucifer. He didn’t even ask Lucifer any questions.
Once the guard had disappeared out the back door, Lucifer headed down the hall and met two more men at the archway to the main room of the bar.
The two of them looked him over. Then they turned around and looked over at another man. One of them uttered, “Slice, they sent a new one.”
Lucifer waited for them to wave him through. He stepped past the two men and looked around. He spotted Pixie, first, sitting on a chair at the closest table. She looked okay, but irritated. That didn’t surprise Lucifer. Pixie was feisty.
