The side of Lucifer’s mouth lifted. “I know.”

“No. I mean… I fucking love you.”

He chuckled and set aside the wipe. “I love you, too.”

Lucifer had just grabbed the antibacterial ointment when she blurted, “Let’s get married.”

He froze, only his eyes moving to meet hers. “What?”

She didn’t allow herself to back down. Somewhere in her brain, she knew there would come a moment when she wondered why in the hell she blurted that, but she couldn’t deny she meant it. She loved him. Lucifer would be the only man for her for the rest of her life. It made sense to get married. It would also save Crush the irritation of being asked a million damn times when they were going to do it. She may be from a shifter family, but that didn’t mean her mother wasn’t going to want it legal with the government.

“Let’s get married. Tonight. We can probably fly to Vegas, since—”

He shook his head, still looking stunned, and mumbled, “I know a judge in GR who would forge the date on the paperwork.” He leaned a little closer, staring hard into her eyes. “Are you sure? I’m not trying to push you into anything. That’s not why—”

She waved off his concern with the hand he wasn’t holding. “I’m sure. Let’s do it tonight. I’m not wearing one of those god-awful dresses, though. You can forget that.”

Lucifer chuckled. “I don’t think I would want to marry you dressed in something like that. If I’m marrying you, I’m marryingyou. That means I want you in these jeans that hug your magnificent fucking ass and your president patch.”

“So… we’re doing it?”

He nodded and pressed a quick kiss to her lips. “Can you get your hands on five grand? I’ll make the call.”

“Got it in my safe.” She slid off the stool to retrieve the cash as he pulled his phone from his pocket and began making his call.

Before long, she would be a married woman. Fuck. If you would have told her that a year ago, she would have used her claws to slit your throat. At that moment, she couldn’t help but smile.

Lucifer may be an asshole, and an annoying one at that, but he was also loyal, brave, honest, and a great fucking lay. She just might have hit the jackpot.

“Are you telling your club or Bull?”

She removed the framed Tiger’s Claw MC logo from the wall in her living room area and began punching in the code for the safe. “Nope.” When it buzzed, she put her thumb over the sensor. After a moment, it dinged, and the lock mechanism released. She turned the handle and pulled open the safe door. “I’d rather it just be us. They can find out when we get back.”

“Sounds good to me. Are you actually going to ride on my bike with me?”

After grabbing the stack of cash and closing up the safe, she looked over at him with a smile on her face. “I guess… but don’t get used to it.”

As she hung the framed logo back over the safe, she heard him chuckling.

“Judge Bowen, Brooks.” There was a moment of silence. “Yeah, sorry. I know it’s late, but I need a favor… a favor I’m willing toreward.” Another silence. “A favor that will only take ten minutes of your time.”

Crush made her way to Lucifer’s side.

“A fast-tracked hitching for five large… trailers.”

Crush snorted at the ridiculous way Lucifer was asking the judge to marry them.

“Can be there in an hour and a half at the most.” Silence. “Great. Thanks.”

When Lucifer ended the call and grinned at her, Crush rolled her eyes. “You look like a kid who was just told he could go to Disney World.”

He took hold of her hips and pulled her against him. “Makes sense. Isn’t that the place where dreams come true?”

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

Lucifer

Shockedwouldbeanunderstatement when describing how Lucifer felt when Crush suggested they get married. Sure, it was an antiquated tradition, and he was far from a traditional type of guy, but there was a part of his caveman personality that wanted to be legally tied to his woman. He wanted to be able to declare to the world that his wife was the badass president of the Tiger’s Claw MC. He was more than proud to have her on his arm.
