Page 133 of Mr. Flirt

The doors opened, and in trickled Mae, Danni, little Lucy, Winter, Hunter, Colton, and the rest of our friends and family.

My mom clapped her hands and dashed over to hug Lucy, who couldn’t stop crying.

Mike slapped my back, and Skylar chuckled.

“I told you so,” Mike said, laughing. “It just takes finding your match.”

“That easy, huh?” I looked over at Brendan and smiled as his eyes caught mine.

I wandered over, and he gave me a great, big hug.

“So, should I pretend I didn’t just catch you looking at Danni or...?” I teased.

Brendan laughed and shook his head. “Just focus on your big day, fella. I’m in absolutely no rush.”

He patted my shoulders, and I looked over at Lucy, who made her way over.

“You know, I really need to thank you and Mike, Brendan.”

“Why’s that?” he asked, surprised.

“If you hadn’t dared me to go to that bar that night to date Cliff, I probably would have kept Shep blocked forever.”

“Oh, yeah?”

Lucy nodded, looping her arm around mine.

“Then you’re welcome.” Brendan smiled, glancing at Danni again.

“Just let me know if there’s ever any favor I can do for you, and I’ll try my best.” She looked over at her best friend holding her baby. “Maybe I’ll even dare you to do something out of your comfort level.”

Brendan nodded and smiled. “I’ll remember that.”

I shook my head and laughed, realizing that Lucy had come over to our side. Or maybe she was always one of us.

“I finally finished that article about you,” she whispered.

“Yeah?” I brushed some loose strands from her cheek.

She chuckled nervously. “I should have finished it sooner.”

“You don’t say,” I teased.

“I love where they quoted you as saying that the moment you find someone willing to be as vulnerable with their heart as you want to be with yours, love might be a possibility.”

“It’s true.”

“So, youdidbelieve in soulmates,” she said, smiling.

“I was stretching out on a limb there until I met you. Then I became a believer.”

“Thank you, Mr. Flirt, for always knowing what to say and how to treat me.”

Lucy looked into my eyes, and I scooped her into my arms and kissed her, knowing she was the best dare of all.
