“All in good fun,” Brad explained.

“Lore, huh?” I smiled and nodded.

My sister chuckled. “Gotta love kids. No private convos ever. And you know, rhymes with...”

I rolled my eyes, hoping to leave the manwhore discussion behind. “Her name is Lucy.”

Winter shot up from her seat like she’d completed the winning shot. “I knew it. You finally foundthe one.”

Hunter looked amused by his mom’s outburst, and I quickly shook my head.

“Is she part of your lore?” Hunter asked innocently.

I patted his head and glanced at his mom, who took her seat.

“I’ve only been on one date with her, and she’s more screwed up than I am when it comes to love,” I confessed.

Winter frowned and shook her head. “That’s too bad. Why’s that?”

“She’s a divorce lawyer.”

Brad flinched and shook his head. “Yikes.”

My sister laughed. “Too bad you didn’t start dating her when Mom needed a good one. You would have saved us a fortune.”

Hunter cocked his head. “Why’s that?”

“Long story,” I told him. “But it’s been one date, and I highly doubt it will go much of anywhere. She doesn’t trust men.”

“And then she meets Shep Jensen. Oooph. A one-two punch,” my sister muttered.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked playfully. “I am a complete gentleman.”

Winter eyed her son. “Want to go eat breakfast and watch cartoons?”

Hunter lit up as his mom got him over to the couch and situated in front of the television. She wandered back and sat down.

“Great parenting,” I teased.

“You just wait. Now, spill the beans.”

“I am a good boyfriend. I never cheat. Never have.”

“You’ve never had a girlfriend that lasted longer than two weekends in a row.” Winter snickered. “Of course, you haven’t cheated. You can’t make your relationships last longer than a bi-weekly paycheck.”

I shook my head, knowing my sister was right. But I was always upfront and honest with the women I went out with.

“Lucy knows I’m not a relationship type of guy,” I explained. “And she doesn’t believe in the happily-ever-after, so...” I took a breath.

Brad laughed and shook his head. “So, it sounds like a match made in heaven.”

“I’m obviously not doing a great job of selling the situation.”

Winter’s brows rose. “There’s a situation?”

I shrugged. “Wrong word. But we’ve been on a few dates.”

My sister’s eyes looked like they were going to pop out of her head. “There’s been more than one date? You just said you’d have one date. Now, it’s a few?”
