It was a disaster of epic proportions.
I’d found the woman of my dreams while I was in the middle of my worst nightmare.
I was looking into the most beautiful green eyes I’d ever seen in the world, and I’d seen many of them.
And her smile.
My knees wobbled the moment the curl touched her lips.
It was like someone stabbed me in the heart.
She motioned for the chair, which I quickly pulled out and sat in like a puppy dog on his first training day.
Her beautiful gaze dropped to my name tag as her gorgeous mouth rounded into the namePerry.
The woman’s eyes turned quizzical for a split second, and she repeated the name. “Perry.”
When I realized that was me, I nearly choked over my words. I shook my head but nodded and then shook my head again when my gaze dropped to her nametag. I was a mess.
“Lucy, I’m sorry. Unfortunately, there’s been a mistake.”
She bit her lip in the most deliciously sexy way before taking a sip of the red wine she had in front of her.
Damn. That had always been my kryptonite.
A gorgeous smile.
That and raven hair, which she had cascading down her bare shoulders. The thin straps of her pink camisole left little to the imagination.
Lucy was drop-dead gorgeous.
And her curves.
I had to confess to her.
I needed to tell her this was all a ruse.
“God, I hate these things,” she muttered with a blush creeping over her cheeks. “My sister signed me up for my birthday present. Lucky me. Thanks, sister. At least you’re normal.”
“You hope.” I snickered and shook my head. “Well, I can’t imagine that you have any problems in the dating area. You’re gorgeous.”
She grinned and winked at me. “And I’m smart.”
“I don’t doubt it.”
“But I don’t have much time, so I find myself entering relationships of convenience as long as the convenience lasts like a weekend at the most.”
My ears perked up, and a charge ran between us.
Not into lasting relationships? There is a God, and I wasn’t about to ruin my version of heaven.
I needed to tell her the truth.
She shrugged, and it was hard to keep my gaze from her lovely shoulders.
“You know, I can’t imagine you have a hard time getting dates.”
I smiled wider. “Yet, here we both are.”
