I laugh, tuning in his arms as Aspen walks off to find her men.

“I’m not Mrs. Hook yet, you know?”

“I love you, Lincoln.”

“I love you more, Adeline.”

“I never thought I’d get this.”

“Get what?”

“A happily ever after. When my parents died it felt like my future did too. Then, the brain tumor and not being able to afford the surgery, well, I thought I was going to die, but here I am. It feels like a miracle.”

He leans down and kisses me and I know that no matter what comes at me, that Lincoln will be right by my side, ready to love and protect me through everything.
