“Can I help you with something?”
“Just the baby’s bag,” I replied whilst pointing to the other side of the car. I put on my baby strap and it was as if the moment I put it on with Dwayne inside then he woke up. He yawned and looked at me as if he was happy to see me. I felt the same feeling him so close.
“How many months?”
I didn’t even realize that Silver was standing so close to me, as I became mesmerized with my baby.
“Just nine. Nearly ten months. It’s almost his birthday.”
He smiled, and it was as if Dwayne recognized him, smiling at him too.
Weird?
Dwayne was the type of baby that was curious. He would have to know someone before warming up to them, but this dark-haired spiked stranger had done it in a matter of seconds.
“Don’t forget your purse,” Silver warned.
He didn’t know it only held my driving license. My empty purse didn’t feel like anything to lose. I kept the last ten bucks I had in my bra. A trick I’d picked up from Bridget.
Always keep your money close. You can’t afford to lose it.
“This is the Devil's Legacy club. I’m the president. I should have introduced myself properly before.”
I nodded, of course. I’d noticed the back of his jacket said Devil's Legacy. I didn’t know much about MCs for it to fall into place.
There was no one behind the bar, but then another couple of guys came up to us.
“Geez, Silver. You took your sweet time. Thought you went to just get gas, but then we can see you picked up a lot more than that,” a dirty blond hair guy said who could easily be Jensen Ackles as he winked and flirted with me.
“Fuck, Scratch, she’s got a baby. No doubt she is lost,” the other guy said.
“No cursing, she has a baby.”
No more was he in a flirting mood as he backed away. It was as if when I told him that she had a baby, he thought it was a joke. Until, he drew closer and saw it was for real.
You would have thought he’d said COVID. He was with us one minute, and then the next he was grabbing another bottle of beer and making himself scarce.
“You not going to introduce us, Silver? Well, I’m Greyson, Silver’s brother and the MC’s Vice President so if anything happens to this old dude, then I’m next in line.”
He held out his hand, and they both chuckled as if it was some kind of joke. It was then that I noticed someone was sitting in the corner.
“Son, come meet Melinda. She just had a rough day with Steel.”
Everything else that came out of Silver’s mouth was lost. The man who drew near wasn’t the one I’d known as Scar, but Drake.
I felt like my heart was going to pop out of my chest and suffocate Dwayne. Drake was here. He was part of an MC. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the idea of finding him, so I held my gaze as he did the same, finding myself unable to talk.

Scar
“What the fuck?”
Dad blurted out, “There’s a baby here watch your language. Why do you have to act like that?”
I didn’t know whether Melinda should tell him or I should?
“It’s just that Drake, no, Scar and I used to know each other,” Melinda explained, as I found it hard to say anything. My eyes were clued to her. She looked older, as if she’d aged at least five years since I last saw her. Then, again she was a girl back in high school and now she was a Mom.
