“C’mon, Frank, let’s get her in.” Roger called out as he opened the travel crate.
I spun on my heels and as I tried to put her back end in; she pissed again and her tail came around her body to slap me. Dale reached out to hold her back legs, and I felt her claws scrape the back of my neck as they both pulled her from my body and got her inside.
It rattled as she paced and threw herself around and I looked up to see they were crying.
“She’s scared.” Roger nodded.
Dale nodded as well. “Whoever put her in the other crate and dropped her here must’ve done something awful.”
“Well, gentlemen, once I get her home, she’ll never have to be in a crate again.” I took a deep breath and felt my breakfast pushing its way up. “Whew! I need a shower.”
Dale bent over, trying to catch his breath. “You can let your driver go, Frank. I’ll drive youze home.”
“Thanks, Dale.” I shook hands with Roger before Dale and I picked up the crate and loaded her into his carriage.
I climbed in back with her and smiled at Dale. “I think this might help if I talk her through, so she knows she’s going some place good.”
“Good thinking.” He nodded and climbed up front, heading back to my mountain peak.
Chapter Three
Pricilla
Days. That’s how long I’d been in that enclosure and not one person looked my way. All I wanted was to cry out,“I’m not just some fucking cat!”but my ability to speak disappeared. Everything came out as meows and weird sounds.
The other cats? They were all assholes. At night, when the keepers weren’t around, they were loud, lewd jerks. I’d seen enough cat dick to last my life through.
I can hear that guy murmuring to me. At least I’m not going to be in that small enclosure anymore. I guess this new guy, Frank, well, he seems nice, but it doesn’t change the fact that I don’t belong here. I’m not some… some… houselion.
“Oh!” His deep voice rattled excitedly. “I have a fabulous perch for you in an enormous bay window where the sun shines in. I know you’ll like that. I’ll even get you a pretty pillow to lie on. Your paperwork says your name is Pricilla. That’s a beautiful name for my beautiful girl.”
He looked into one of the air holes and I growled at him. He gave a small chuckle and sat back up. “Don’t you worry, my sweet Pricilla. My house is a small palace, and you’ll be the queen in it.”
I heaved a sigh, growled, and turned around in my travel kennel, flicking my tail in irritation. I wanted to go home. No. I needed to go home and tell my father what that tramp did.
Tears rolled down my furry cheeks and I let out a yowl. Not that I want to be the queen. I miss my parents.
Frank’s eye peeked into my crate again. “It’s okay, sweet girl. Once we get home, I promise I’ll never put you back in this box.”
A hard breath puffed out of my nose. I wanted to believe him, but right now I didn’t know who to trust anymore.
His large finger slid into the small slit to pet me, and I swatted at him. After all, misery loves company.
“Easy girl.” His deep voice cooed at me. “I mean you no harm.”
My tail still flicked in irritation, but I had to admit he had a very soothing voice. It wouldn’t hurt to enjoy him talking to me on my journey to my new hell. His finger gently stroked behind my ear, which helped me calm down.
When we got to his house, he carefully unloaded my kennel and carried me inside. It wasn’t hard to notice the surroundings were very different. Objects seemed bigger, and the air felt thinner. I skittered around on the smooth floor and tried to get every view I could as I took it all in.
The house we went towards made my eyes open unnaturally wide. I’d never seen something so… so… big! It made the castles back in Oz look tiny. Even the flowers were huge!
My head tilted as I scanned the walls of the house. Is that a beanstalk? An actual beanstalk. Oh, my gods! Am I up in the air?
I knew of Cloud City as the place where titans and giants lived and everyone knew the Gods and Goddesses lived up here on Mount Olympus as well.
He set my kennel down, opened a door, and then picked up the kennel to carry me over the threshold and put me down in a dark room. When the door didn’t open right away, I snarled and paced the small kennel.
“Mrrrrrooooww,” I growled out.
