“You have a bit of explaining to do,” Daniel said and sat back down in his chair.

Xavier wiped a frustrated hand down his face and sat. He went over what had happened at the club and how he had taken her home. He stalled when it came to the kiss.

“Boy, I know that look. What happened when you took her home?”

“I kissed her.”

“Is that it?” Daniel asked.

“Yes. But then I said it was the last one.”

Daniel raised a brow. “Is there more?”

“We saw each other at the restaurant, and I followed her into the ladies’ room.”

Daniel laughed. “That’s something I would have done.”

That didn’t make Xavier feel better.

“What happened in the bathroom?”

“I accused her of following me.”

Daniel hooted. “Oh, man. I bet that pissed her off.”

Xavier smiled. “Yeah. She’s so damn cute when she’s mad.”

“She didn’t hurt you, did she?”

At first, Xavier thought Daniel was kidding, but he looked serious.

“Daniel, I’m twice her size.”

“It doesn’t matter. Women can be devious and will catch you when you least expect it.”

“Are you saying your wife has hurt you?” Xavier asked.

“A few times at first. Don’t get me wrong. I deserved it every time.”

Jesus. “How big is your wife?”

“The same size as Ariana.”

“Then how?” Xavier was perplexed.

“A few times, I got a knee in the crotch when I crossed a line with her.”

Xavier cringed.

“She slammed her high heel down on my foot once. That fucker hurt. She’s pulled my ear a few times. I thought she was going to rip the thing off my head. Fortunately, I’ve learned over the years, but now all she has to do is give me a look.”

“A look? Why does that affect you?”

“Because, boy, it’s disappointment. I’d rather have her mad at me any day than disappointed in me. Just wait. Now, tell me the rest, but hurry. My wife will be coming in soon.”

What the hell? The man acted like he was afraid of his wife and, at the same time, excited to see her.

“Well, I kissed her again. We got interrupted by an older woman. I think we scandalized her.” Xavier laughed. After a moment, his smile fell. “I told her again that it was the last one.”
