“Yeah, good thing.”

Chloe studies me closely. “Why did you get a weird look on your face?”

“Huh? What look?”

Now Lily studies me. “I know that look. It’s a look you get when you’re hiding something from us.”

“I’m not hiding anything.”

“Liar,” Ava says.

“Does this have anything to do with Colton?” Lily asks.

“Why do you assume everything has to do with Colt?” I mutter.

They all give me looks.

I sigh. “Okay. It has to do with Colt.”

Lily squeals. “What happened?”

“It doesn’t mean anything. My app is a total mess.”

“What does your app have to do with anything?” Chloe asks.

I look to my right and left and notice that kids are still staring and whispering. Sheesh, can I find a genie who will grant me a wish to turn back invisible?

“We have a few minutes before class starts,” I tell them. “Let’s go somewhere private to talk. The cafeteria?”

They follow me there, and we sit down at a table on the side, where no one can overhear our conversation.

“I’m on pins and needles,” Lily says. “I need some Colton and Willow drama.”

“My life isn’t a book or a movie, Lily.”

She gives me a teasing grin. “It sure is.”

She may be right. Because it certainly feels that way.

“Well?” Ava and Chloe demand.

My hand refuses to move. Refuses to take my phone out of my pocket and show them my match. Because as long as I keep it to myself, and as long as Colt doesn’t bring it up, I can pretend it never happened. Once I tell my friends? It becomes real.

But it wouldn’t be logical to hide it from them. Not when…itmeanssomething to me.

“This happened last night.” I open the app to where it shows my match and place it face up on the table. For all eyes to see.

Each one of them bends forward to scan the screen. Then Ava shouts, “You were matched with Colton?”

“Oh my gosh! You were matched with Colton!” Lily squeals. “I knew it. Iknewit.”

“This is so awesome,” Chloe says. “You guys must have been matched because you’re complete opposites. But I thought you chose the option for the app to match you with someone similar to you.”

“I did.”

“But Colton is so different from you. How did you guys get matched?”

“He’s not that much different than me,” I inform them. “He…well, let’s just say there’s more to him than meets the eye.”
